I was initiated at 22, and am now 32. Loved every minute, and I believe I was ready for it.
I don't know if there is a way of changing the poll, but in Scotland you can be initiated from the age of 18 as a Lewis - no dispensation required!

Just snuck in to 21-30! I was 30 exactly 7 days after my son was born!
I told the wife the chemist was out of nappies and I walked all around London looking for some! (She still doesnt know I am a mason!).....Only joking!

I was Initiated when I was 47 and wish I had found out about it sooner. Thoroughly enjoying it and looking forward to being more fully involved once I am Raised.

I guess I'm the oldster here; I was initiated in February 2005 at the tender age of 52. I wish I'd joined many years ago but I'm now starting through the offices and was appointed IG last night at our Installation.

I joined when I was 33, 6 years after my twin brother who was one of the youngest to join our Lodge at age 27. We did have a Woman join at age 21 who is still a member but now lives too far away to commute (6hr drive).
We find, however that it requires a more mature person to realise the importance of what they are entering, so don't generally find under 30's applying, much nearer the mid 40's
cheers, Hubert

35. I had been interested and researched into Freemasonry for 20 years prior to that , but I was 35 when I was Initiated and I feel that was the right age for me as by then I had experienced some 17 years of Adult Life with its ups and downs and had been married for a few years. Had I been Initiated when I was in my 20s much of its lessons and meaning would have been lost on me.
I would like to see UGLE come into line with GL of S and some other Constitutions and permit a Lewis to be Initiated into his father's Lodge at 18 . (Down here in England being a Lewis is but an empty Honour confering no real benefit on the young man in question). However, on a personal basis I feel a man is better suited to Freemasonry and it to him when he has reached his 30s.

I Joined in 1997 - at age 35. I generally believe that a certain degree of "life experience" is beneficial in order to join as the teachings IMHO must be "correlated" to experiences (good but very importantly also bad) before one gets the full advantages from Freemasonry. But then again: I may not posses the insight level of some of you, so no pun intended. For me mid-30es was right. Going throgh the offices, and the chair, only made me more humble - but not less sharp :-)

It seems that the candidates in my lodge, atm are between 30 to early 50. But the again, in the last few months we have had one at 27 and one at 85.
