CoraB recently gave a brilliant paper on Freemasonry from the Alchemists point of view. As Kabbala/Alchemy/Tarot seem to reinforce one another, I was wondering if that section might have a name change.
Is there enough interest in those subjects to support a name change?

Greetings Sisters and Brethren,
Although the three items proposed were amalgamated by the French and British occultist movement during the 19th and 20th centuries, most experts of Qabbalah do not share the view that Tarot forms or formed a part of the Israelite esoteric Tradition.

The only addition that I'd suggest is making it K/Q/Cabbala. These really are three distinct types, each with their pluses and minuses. My pref is for the "K" variety ;D

Greetings Sisters and Brethren, Although the three items proposed were amalgamated by the French and British occultist movement during the 19th and 20th centuries, most experts of Qabbalah do not share the view that Tarot forms or formed a part of the Israelite esoteric Tradition. Quite right lihin. My idea of the name change was solely to give some space on the forum for those who are interested in those subjects to share ideas. Whilst I have limited knowledge of these subjects, they and their relevance to Masonry (everything is a mirror) fascinate me and all my reading at the moment lies in these areas. The Kabbala thread has been dead for a while and I think that is a shame. We have discussed Masonic Education in the General Section... well here is an opportunity for those with some knowledge to pass it on. Particulary when these subjects seem to confirm what Masonic ritual and symbols seem to be indicating also. I think imakegarb's suggestion of K/Q/Cabbala is a great one also... Maat

Perhaps it shows the area as a separate one is not really needed at all, and that the discussions could be incorporated in the Esoteric area.
Thing is, despite the overlays that some suggest for Kabalah and Tarot (with or without the additional overlays of Alchemy, Astrology, and yet others), they are distinct and independent of Freemasonry.
Also, I suggest we need to be careful not to present a whole forum as though there was an intrinsic relation or correlation between these distinct areas.
Example: we are all in agreement that the un-numbered Fool in Tarot is correlated to the Hebrew letter Tau, is positioned last in the sequence, and is 'located' within Keter ...right?
If we disagree, why?!?

Incorporating 'all the above' into the esoteric section is not such a bad idea either. Thanks jmd. The good point for this option is that those that frown upon such things as Tarot may well find that it is not at all what they supposed it to be.
HELP staffs - is there any way we can add a third line to the vote and let everyone have a vote again? I don't want to start a new one and lose the comments above.

Actually, perhaps an even better suggestion might be to have 'Esoteric Masonic Discussion' (ie, the existing area) and 'Esoteric NON-Masonic Discussion'

I like that suggestion - it quite clear what the subject area is and gets round all the tricky k/q/c stuff too!

Good-O .... we will get 'those who know how to do these things onto it'.
jmd - you are a real gem and your input into the Forum is very much appreciated! Thank you.
