Our son Sean (age 9) was rushed to hospital last Friday afternoon complaining of serious pain in the right side of his stomic. Turns out his appendix were badly inflamed and needed to be removed. He was operated on at 6pm Friday evening and by 7:20pm it was all over. He had been put to sleep and remembers nothing of what went on. His first word on waking were "Is it over?"
Toda, Sunday, he ate his first bit of food in three days! Tea and toast. He said it was the best piece of toast he's ever had!
What made me smile today (Leap for joy, in fact!) was the doctor telling us our son is fine and will be allowed home tomorrow.

Stewart/Chris
Thanks for your kind words. I've just returned from the hospital and Sean is still doing well. I'll return later. He so brave for a frail little chap - if it were me in his position I'd have been roaring like a camel! Do camels roar?
He'll be out tomorrow and a surprise party is planed to welcome his safe return to us. I wish you and other members of the forum we're here for the bash!
I will pass on your best wishes.

Chris. Not useless, at all. I think Sean is a lovely name and your godson's parents have great taste! Sean Connery is a favourite in our house hold. Our son Sean was called after my dad, he passed away two years ago. Sean is gaelic for John, btw.

Just to let everyone know Sean is NOW home with us and is doing great. His stomach is naturally still a little tender but his form and spirits are very high. Thanks to all for your messages of support, both publicly and privately, they have been very comforting.

And this made me laugh out loud: From the Daily Mirror:
Racists accidentally hire black DJ for Xmas party..then storm out Dec 6 2004 By Daniel Thomas And Greig Box
FURIOUS BNP racists walked out of their own Christmas party - because the DJ was black. A member of the far right group blundered by hiring the entertainer over the phone without meeting him first. Party-going bigots were stunned when he turned out to be black. BNP organiser Bob Garner admitted yesterday: "Everyone was a bit alarmed when he turned up with his lights and console. A lot of people weren't happy. I wasn't, really. One or two walked out." None of the BNP members told the DJ who his audience was - and kept their poisonous beliefs quiet during speeches. Garner said: "We had to be careful what we said. What are you supposed to do? Tell him to clear off. It was very, very embarrassing." Among the guests at the £12 a head function were BNP London mayoral candidate Julian Leppert and Euro spokesman Chris Roberts. BNP spokesman Phill Edwards said upset members chose to leave the party in central London instead of insulting the DJ. He sneered: "So what's the problem?" Labour MP Martin Salter said: "Clearly the Christmas message of goodwill was missing."
Official Bob Garner said: "There was a bit of a c*ck-up. The chap who booked him didn't realise. The DJ sounded white on the phone." Labour MP Martin Salter said last night: "This just shows they'll never be a legitimate political party. "They're just poisonous bigots who think they can tell the colour of someone's skin from the other end of a phone line." Some members of the far right group were so outraged by the blunder they walked out of the hotel where their party was staged. And those that stayed had to keep their bigoted beliefs secret instead of parading them in end of year speeches. Garner, branch organiser for Croydon, South London, admitted: "Everyone was a bit alarmed when the DJ turned up. "A lot of people weren't happy - I wasn't, really - and one or two walked out. But some younger members thought it was a bit ironic and danced away the night. "Traditionally someone stands and says what's happened in the year or in the elections. But it was a bit difficult to say we were even the BNP. We even had to be careful what we said when we did the raffle so we didn't offend this guy. "What are you supposed to do? Tell him to clear off? It was very, very embarrassing." The Christmas party was held by the BNP's Central London branch at a hotel in the centre of the capital. Guests included BNP London mayoral candidate Julian Leppert and Euro spokesman Chris Roberts. BNP leader Nick Griffin was not present. Party spokesman Dr Phill Edwards said: "What's the problem? "No one expressed any ill-feeling towards the DJ. They didn't insult him or pick on him. Some walked out - but so what? "It's a free country. If we want a white DJ, that's our choice. Other ethnic groups help each other, so why shouldn't we?" Another BNP member said: "A DJ came in and, yes, he was of African origin. "But as a party we don't have any animosity towards particular individuals. Our gripe is that the indigenous people feel our city is being overtaken by internationalism."
