I have just noticed a book called The Middle Pillar - The balance between Mind and Magic. Which appears to be quite an old book the blurb says it was one of the first books to introduce a psychological perspective on magic and practical occultism..."
Do we have a connection

Dr Israel Regardie, The Middle Pillar, The balance between Mind & Magic.
A fascinating book.
One other thing, I am not a member of The GD (This book has very strong Links)

I might seriously consider getting this particular book myself. But only because of the (rather tenuous) connection with Chris

The name Chris has been mentioned regarding Middlepillar. I may be a bit off the mark but did you(Middlepillar) recieve the 1738 Constitutions from me last year?

I am not really good at book reviews but i'll try to write something in the next few days. And Leo, I did indeed choose my user name from the rather super title of the book ;D I have the updated copy which includes info from The Cicero's, but I have also seen an old copy. The Ciceros are Senior Adepts of the Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn. The Golden Dawn has a very chequered History! I personally read a lot of stuff by A.E.Waite who is attributed with re-writing the ceremonies of The Golden Dawn taking out the infamous 'Magick' aspect and instead inserting 'Mystiscism' which I personally am far easier with. He then gave this new 'system' a new name and I am interested in this order! The fact is the Book is a good read in its own right and looks at things like the 'Philosophers Stone' (Yes That one!) The tree of life, ceremonial magic and many other things. (I think I've done my book review!). Leo, the great reader that you are I am sure you will find it interesting. I am lucky enough to hold a position in Freemasonry which gives me access to lots of interesting reading material, I just wish I could find more time to read it all!

Bob I am really sorry, for some reason I thought you knew! I really am a Pr?tt, I should also like to publicly thank you for giving me Staffs Forums details, I have been keeping in touch with you but I have never told you my user name (unbelievably stupid of me ;D) Once again Bob thanks and yes I received not only Andersons constituions but also a very nice Tie too! ;D And I am still planning to come to Scotland when you join The SRIS ;D

Hi MiddlePillar, There is certainly no need for an apology, as there did seem to be certain clues in some of your posts ,but it was confirmed to me tonight. The decisive one was the access to the reading material that you mentioned. I remember having a conversation about that very library with you last year, amongst other things which didn't pan out I'm sad to say. I will definately let you know when the SRIS comes around. Hopefully I should hear something in the next couple of months.

Leo, the great reader that you are I am sure you will find it interesting. Chris, Yes I do love a good read but not only books of a Masonic nature. My wife just bought me, yesterday, in fact, the new John Grisham book, The Broker. Just started reading it last night and I must say I am enjoying is thoroughly so for far. As far as the book you recommended is concerned I shall certainly do my best to obtain a copy of it in the near future. Do you, or anybody else for that matter, have any suggestions as to where I should try first? I guess I will begin with the usual: Amazon.com. Always a good starting point. Mind you, I guess I can always try TFM. They usually have a good selection. On a closing note, I'm delighted to see that I was instrumental in bringing two old acquaintances together. Consider it my good deed for the day.

Maybe it's just my sick mind, but when I first read the nickname "middlepillar" I thought of Rolf Harris' Jake the Peg. ;D No offence meant, of course. And bod will attest to my confessing something similarly weird about his TFM nickname... I'm sure somebody has a nice white jacket that does up at the back kept aside for me somewhere.
