I can't remember the source, but I've read somewhere that vegetarians are more susceptible to external spiritual forces.... not sure why.

I was a veggie for nearly 10 years! When I eat sensibly and kept away from cream cakes, etc, I was extremely healthy. These days I love my stake too much to ever want to revert Good luck to those who can live such a life style.

When the BF, who is a veggan, and I, who am sooooo not , go to a restaurant, I often will order steak, he will order the salad. When the waiter/waitress brings our meals, nine times out of ten, s/he will put the salad down in front of me and the steak down in front of him. Makes for a giggle while we switch Now, occasionally, he will tell me about the horrors of eating meat. I listen politely and then say something like "I eat meat". And that's that. That is so funny When veggies ask me why I like meat I simply say because I like it. No mystery

I don't believe vegetarians have the monopoly on being spiritually more sensitive.

Leo If you ate a stake you would still qualify for being a veggie! most stakes are wooden Sorry but it made me laugh. I am not a fan of the Royal family but the line where granny asks if someone would like a ham sandwich and she was told "nan, he's a vegetarian" and she replies; "its ok, its wafer fin" was very funny.

I was a vegetarian my fist year of college...it didn't work out so well. Lost lots of weight and got sick.
It's too bad God made animals out of meat....it just tastes so good.

Some eat far too much simple carbohydates and all the excess sugers get stored as fat. It's too bad God made animals out of meat....it just tastes so good. Gotta agree with you there.

Yeah, my problem was that I just quit eating....probably because nothing tasted like much.
So, I just drank lots of coffee and smoked a million cigarettes.=]

I don't know many college students who can afford meat that doesn't come in Top Ramen. Most, I think, qualify as Vegans

>I can't remember the source, but I've read somewhere that vegetarians are more susceptible to external spiritual forces
Leaving aside any karmic issues, the main problem is that the animals are terrified before being killed and their biological markers of fear are quite similar to ours. Hence you are what you eat.
As I wait for my train I occasionally see cattle trains going through to the slaughterworks and there is a fog of grey fear around them - even when the trains return empty
This is less a problem with "country killed" meat
It may be even less a problem when animals are killed with propitiatary ritual in traditional communities
Cheers
Russell

There is also an additional school of thought that I am not sure I fully understand...Russell, maybe you can shed some light here. In the Nag Hammadi Codex II, in the Gospel of Thomas, saying 7 "Yeshua said, Blessings on the lion if the human eats it. making the lion human. Foul is the human if a lion eats it. making the lion human." In both cases the lion becomes human...but one is inside the man, and the other has the man in him. Any thoughts?

I never gave much consideration to animals suffering in this way.
