In my experience of these places it never occurred to me to label the entity a goddess.
I suggest an experimental approach at each site to see what types of entities are regularly using it

How about trees? At a previous home of mine, there was a gigantic cypress pine, under which were growing all sorts of ferns etc. When I watered there, I had an overwhelming feeling of the presence of a lady. I ended up referring to the tree as The Lady tree. True. I drove past some years later to see that it had been cut down and was instantly reduced to tears. Maat

Often the largest tree in a locality will be used by a large nature spirit or even a landscape deva as an energy body through which to manage the locality
If you go to wooded area where you have a clear view and look around to find the tallest or most dominant tree you may be able to sense an area over which the tree spreads its protective and managing energies
