When performing our rituals I like the balance that both men and women bring - For me to perform such rituals with some of our Species banned would make those rituals quite hollow. In Co-Masonry we permit more that the Christians Bible to be present- we allow many different sacred writings to be present. Because Co-Freemasonry is not a Christian Organization it is possible for a member to participate in all the side degrees and advance to the Pinnacle of 33rd Degree Freemason. I understand that many Male only varieties do not allow any but Christians Freemasons to join the 18th Degree of Rose Croix not a restriction for our Co-masonic Lodge who sees the ritual of that degree to be much more ancient than 2000 Years

One of the reasons among many I prefer Co-Masonry is my wife was also able to join. We were initiated on the same day and will (soon) be Passed together. Eventually we will be Raised together.

I understand that many Male only varieties do not allow any but Christians Freemasons to join the 18th Degree of Rose Croix Probably because they mistake the messenger for the message! Maat

Whistler Sorry for being pedantic! How can you prefer one thing when you have never tried the other? (Surely the thread should read; A couple of reasons why I think I prefer Co-Masonry?) Good to be back!

"How can you prefer one thing when you have never tried the other?" Bro Middlepillar (glad to see him back on line)
Whereas I can of course answer that question as I HAVE tried both and can say with knowledge and a firm conviction that I do prefer Co-Masonry.

Whistler Sorry for being pedantic! How can you prefer one thing when you have never tried the other? (Surely the thread should read; A couple of reasons why I think I prefer Co-Masonry?) Good to be back! Welcome back from me also. Now In my Post I mentioned only two reasons. I am not a Christian so in Malecraft I would not be able to aspire to High degrees. As far as the working of ritual is concerned my instinct and what I see during the creation of the temple, indicates the need for balance. I also like Leo can't imagine working Masonic ritual without my wife. Now please be certain I am not slamming the Mateship of Malecraft Freemasonry, indeed I was present in the refectory, after a relative was initiated into Malecraft, and had a very enjoyable evening . So would I like to attend a Malecraft Lodge - why yes of course I would, I like mixing with people. Would I ask somebody to invite me to attend a Lodge where I was not wanted - Never. Can I understand Masonic ritual - creating a temple in the ether - with only one variety of Humankind - Never

Does that restriction (christians only) apply to NZ male craft Rose Croix then whistler? And it certainly doesnt prevent me (a non christian) from advancing through other degree's. My understanding is that AASR or Rose Croix has 33 degree's corresponding to the 33 years of the life of Christ

My understanding is that AASR or Rose Croix has 33 degree's corresponding to the 33 years of the life of Christ It can also refer to Malkuth ascending/returning to Daath. The 33rd path on the ToL. Maat
