Does that restriction (christians only) apply to NZ male craft Rose Croix then whistler? And it certainly doesnt prevent me (a non christian) from advancing through other degree's. My understanding is that AASR or Rose Croix has 33 degree's corresponding to the 33 years of the life of Christ Penfold my Delay in answering is partly due to the complexity of the question I gave my Male Craft friend. Who is a Male Craft Past Master, and a member of the 18th Rosy Croix. Our order is progressive from EA to 33rd degree. Mark is considered a side Degree and HRA something unique. After Master Mason and the ranks associated with the Craft the next step is the 18th, from there the degrees are conferred. The administration of all our Degrees is controlled by our Consistory which is made up with 32nd & 33 Degree Masons. We consider progress up the Degrees honorable and for some desirable. This structure appears to be different in Malecraft perhaps a Male craft Mason could advise on the situation of a Non Christian Freemason who might aspire to a high degree in Freemasonry BTW 33 is also the Number vertebrae in the "Perfect Man'

When performing our rituals I like the balance that both men and women bring - For me to perform such rituals with some of our Species banned would make those rituals quite hollow. In Co-Masonry we permit more that the Christians Bible to be present- we allow many different sacred writings to be present. Because Co-Freemasonry is not a Christian Organization it is possible for a member to participate in all the side degrees and advance to the Pinnacle of 33rd Degree Freemason. I understand that many Male only varieties do not allow any but Christians Freemasons to join the 18th Degree of Rose Croix not a restriction for our Co-masonic Lodge who sees the ritual of that degree to be much more ancient than 2000 Years

I understand that many Male only varieties do not allow any but Christians Freemasons to join the 18th Degree of Rose Croix not a restriction for our Co-masonic Lodge who sees the ritual of that degree to be much more ancient than 2000 Years I see that the last post here was seven or so months ago, so I don't know how much interest is left in this topic, but I'd like to comment. I am a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the US Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, both male only. I respect all forms of Freemasonry that are sincere in practicing Regular Masonry, so if one sees it more to their liking to belong to another obedience, so mote it be as far as I'm concerned. I just would like to comment that in the branch of Masonry to which I belong, other texts besides the Christian Bible are permitted on the altar. I have never seen any, but a late Grand Chaplain of my Grand Lodge once told me of attending Lodge in India and on the altar there were the Holy Bible, Koran and Veda, since members of that Lodge were of Christian, Moslem and Hindu Faiths. In the Scottish Rite to which I belong, it is true that the Rose Croix Degrees have a Christian emphasis, but non-Christians are not prohibited from receiving the Degrees. The purpose of the Degrees is more of an historical presentation rather than an allegiance to a certain dogma. In my jurisdiction, non-Christians may also receive the Thirty-Third Degree; I personally knew one Jewish Brother, now deceased who received it and deservedly so.
