I was wondering if any one could tell me if there are any co-masonic lodges in Ohio. I did email the American co-masonry they did respond but they did not answer my question pacifically.

Hi Lynn,
Off the top of my head I do believe we have some out or near there -- drop me an email (via PM) and I'll see what I can find out for you.
Best wishes,
Cora

I *think* our nearest lodge, to Ohio, is in Detroit but I could be mistaken. I know at least one Brother in West Virginia so there may be one closer.
If you are in touch with a Brother at my Obedience's headquarters in Larkspur, and if you are serious in your desire to find one of our lodges, then I recommend patience.

OK I can wait but the secretary general told me to call her by cell phone. I don't have a cell phone. I called by home phone which I could get in trouble for if the phone bill is higher than excepted. The first time I called I got no answer so I just hung up. the second time I left a real shaky message. I really prefer email because as a college student that what I am use to. But no this person preferred the cell phone. I asked one question about lodge location and this person could not simply answer me through email. this is not worth it if going to get trouble for all of this.

Bro. Karen is correct . I also am a Freemason in the American Federation of Human Rights. I am in Columbus, Ohio and travel to the Detroit area for meetings. It is only a 4 hour drive and is actually quite enjoyable. I Believe Le Droit Humain lodge is a bit further North and West from Detroit. Last year, they also had a triangle (beginnings of a lodge) starting in Lexington KY. I expressed ability to travel to Indiana or Pennsylvania, but the person said that that was all in this area. That was a year ago though.
We also have members from other states including one from the Pittsburgh area. We have another person to be initiated in March from the Columbus area. I also understand there is an inquiring applicant here in Columbus whom I have not yet met.
It will be nice to carpool rather than traveling solo. If you are close to the Pittsburgh area, perhaps the same can be arranged after your initiation with our brother there?
My first contact with our Grand Lodge was by email, but did follow up by telephone. Fortunately, I have unlimited long distance on my home phone No, don't get into trouble for that. Do let the secretary general know of your situation with telephone communications.
As far as lodge locations, my inquiry was not answered until the lodge master themselves contacted me. The secretary general needs to get a better idea of your location to best advise you and the lodge prior to more formal contact.
Patience is a virtue much required in Freemasonry. Rome was not built in a day. Good luck to you friend. I hope I can call you a Brother in our lodges soon.

Listen am not trying to be mean or demanding but I don't want my mom to know just yet. Plus I don't want her yelling at me for the phone bill. Every time I gain interest in some type organization or club she gives me a neutral comment that goes either way, she would also tell my uncle who I really wanted to surprise by telling him my self.

I am appreciating - empathizing even - your enthusiasm. But hold the phone. Literally Please see your PMs about a few things. Also . . . how old are you? I'm wondering because it sounds to me like you still live at home and haven't yet taken on a great deal of responsibility in life, which suggests you've not yet reached 21. If this is the case, you will have to be very patient indeed. I'm not aware of any Masonic Obedience who will take in a new Candidate who is not yet 21. The only exception would be a "Lewis", the child of a Freemason, who may come in at 18 but only after a certain amount of preparation.

Well, I am 20 now and I will be 21 in June. I stay at home because one the new female dorm at ysu is way to expensive. Secondly My home is very close to the university and safer than the older dorms at the campus. It is not really that safe in youngstown.

Lynn1, if you feel drawn to Freemasonry then that's all that's important at this stage. As other have said, relax and just wait patiently - somethings simply cannot be rushed.
Good luck to you and keep us informed on how things go.

Lynn, You are on the right track. I too stayed in my parents house till I was married at 25. It was but a few miles to the OSU campus and I was working full time as well as trying to handle a full load of courses.
Karen also guided me, and Leo is right. Additionally, you have your entire life ahead. Enjoy it.

First of all I want all of you stop calling me impatient. All I asked was one simple question and that was lodge location. The only helpful person is corab who said she would ask the inspector general which was I happily waiting for until I come back to the forum and the Moderator imakegarb starts calling me impatient. Also I it find rude and offense that all of you think you known my situation. What makes you think I can join right now. I was only going to check it out this summer. U Don't Know Me

Hi Lynn
Patience is a normal thing for a Freemason to ask of a new initiate, so I guarantee it is not pointed at you specifically.
I am a UGLE Mason in England and I will say this very often to the newbies even those already initiated.
Freemasonry is best experienced like a good novel, just let it wash over you. That is all these Masons are saying they will say the same to anyone. When you are a Master Mason I have no doubt you will say the same to another Initiate.

But, I am not a new initiate and there is chance that I might not be one so don't treat me like one. You got that partner!

I have no wish to appear disrespectful to you Lynn but if some of your responses are anything to go by perhaps it's best you hold off for a while before petitioning any Lodge.

I am not even at that point yet and oh are you going to come all the way from Australia to Ohio to take me to lodge that cloud be at least an hour and half away or more away. I asked one simple question which corab had already answered and I was happily waiting for her response from the inspector general. Until I receive all these comments attacking me over one simple question that I asked. It also appears that she is the only one to read my post because Leo must have not read that I was only going to check it out over the summer. Now I find it disrespectful that none of you except one person is actually reading my post and not throwing comments that are attacking me. So when you holla or speak Remember you don't know me Save all the hating and the talking because you don't know me!

Lynn1 The other posters here, like myself have treated and spoken to you with the utmost respect, for some reason you want to take these comments as an insult. Everyone here would be delighted to see you join Freemasonry. I had a prospective candidate in my house yesterday. I explained to him for people like me who love their Masonry, handing it over to new young people is like giving a precious gift. I don't want anything back, I will just be pleased if you join and find as much pleasure in it as I have found. So as we are partners now, get off your horse and cool off.
