THE VERTICAL MAN: A LYRICAL ASCENT OF THE TREE OF LIFE
I leave the Kingdom-Green behind And tread into the Black Cross that leads unto the Moon - No chance of looking back!
Foundation firm beneath my feet - My Sandals tightly strapped! A Crescent Bow within mine hand - For at shooting I am apt!
In the distance a Ruined Tower No longer held Erect. Cautious, I reach into my Quiver And an Arrow I select.
I progress beyond the rubbled stone, Mine Arrow still in hand - But I cannot reach the Sun, for I Before a Rainbow stand.
I set mine Aim & pierce the Veil And Golden Light pours through. The Beauty beheld beneath Its Rays Leaves me born anew!
Beyond the Sun - the Desert, hot And a Camel I must mount, But a Serpent came & blocked out Way - We paused on His account.
A Maiden appeared & tamed the Beast, She bid us pass on through - But just as soon as we left Her side Everything blew Askew!
Into a Sandstorm the Camel strode - My clothes were torn & shred. We collapsed upon the sandy dune Exhausted - nearly dead!
An eternity passed, but I awoke To the touch of that Maiden Fair - In Her Graal mine Seed I left And entrust It to Her care.
I mount mine wearied Camel once More for we must endure Until we reach that Holy Crown So White & Diamond-Pure!
