Hello everybody , I live in Belgium (Brussels) and applied to the 'Grand Orient' lodge by letter some time ago. Since then, +/- 8months, absolute silence (no letter, e-mail or phone call). I was just wondering if this is normal for continental FM or if it is possible that in some cases applicants do not receive any feedback, even not an official "no"? I'm getting a little bit worried because when reading different message boards (mainly US) it seems that at least some kind of feedback is provided after a few weeks/months? Thanks for your help, Kevin.

It is unusual not to have heard something by now. I'd suggest you try phoning the Lodge secretary; the contact details can be gotten directly from the Grand Orient HQ or sometimes on line. Try googling the Lodge's name for that area where it is located. You could also try getting to know some Masons from the particular lodge, too, that is of course if it's possible to do so.
I suggest too that you try and see what other Masonic forums dealing with Belgium have to say. While US based Brothers can be very helpful their advice may be limited unless they have specific local knowledge.
In any case, good luck to you. Please keep us informed on how you get on.

Thank you for the feedback Leo.
Contacting them directly is difficult since they have no telephone number on their website (only option is to write a letter). I didn't write a second letter since I did not wanted to look impatient but by now I'm getting worried...
Before writing a second letter I was just trying to find out if 8 months is unusual or not (hence this post). Apparently it is so I think I'm going to send a second letter (just in case the first one got lost or something).
I'll keep you informed!
Thanks,
Kevin

Well, Kevin I hope you get a reply this time. I can imagine the frustration with all the waiting and not knowing anything. Persevere Brother to be and do keep us updated. It's always pleasing to hear of someone's Masonic progress.

I wouldnt be worried.just know to become a mason u must die to be born away from past sins.if you have made it that far and came back and are deemed worthy than perhaps things will fall into place for you in time.you should not want to die but not be afraid.remember the g in the compass stands for geometry and god.so keep the faith even up until the end.the last thought that should cross your mind before death should be god first god only.
