The belief requirement is not mandated at the executive level. It is left up to the individual lodges. There are heavily religious lodges with in GOdF, although they are in the tiny minority.

Hmm- my lodge is not part of UGLE, being American, but it is part of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, which is in amity with UGLE and like UGLE requires belief in a Supreme Being. As previous posters said, lodges in the Anglo-American tradition do not require membership in any particular religion, sect, or denomination in order to be members of our lodges. We merely require personal faith in a Supreme Being. Therefore, Unitarian Universalists are welcome to petition for membership in our lodges, and several are officers.

Which is the way it should be - the personal supreme being can be a wispy being or a chemical formula - just the being in a starting point
