St. Francis Lodge are holding an Open Day on June 18th at Tekels Park (www.tekelspark.co.uk/) , Camberley.
The highlight of the day will be an open ceremony of St. John in Midsummer, to which the public are admitted. If you are interested in attending the Open Day and the ceremony, please advise us by phone (020 8339 9000) or email (marketing.comason@btinternet.com) of your intention as this will assist catering arrangements. The event starts at 2pm and the ceremony will start at 2.30pm. Discussion and Q & A will follow the ceremony, for those who wish to participate and visitors also have the opportunity of a guided tour of the Temple and the grounds, and to support the Lodge in its fundraising efforts for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (www.pth.org.uk/) in Farnham, the only adult hospice serving West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
Refreshments will be provided, including a light finger buffet, prior to close of the event at 5.30pm. The ceremony of St. John in Midsummer is one of a pair - the other being St. John in Midwinter, which mark the patronage of both the Saints John, as traditional patrons of freemasonry. Being held usually at solstice points, these ceremonies also reference the solar cycle and are, in different ways, festivals of light. We hope that visitors, particularly those who are new to freemasonry (and in particular, freemasonry where men and women may work together) will take the opportunity to find out more about the Lodge and the work of freemasonry. Any visitors requiring residential accommodation should contact Tekels Park directly. The lodge use the Temple and adjoining rooms at Tekels Park on a regular basis but also welcome the serenity of the exceptionally beautiful and extensive surroundings at Tekels Park which lend so much to its contemplative work.
