Benito Pérez Galdós, a non-Mason, is Spain's equivalent of Charles Dickens or Leo Tolstoy, except that he is not well-known outside of Spain. He wrote a series of books called the National Episodes, based on real events, which was very popular. One of these is called The Grand Orientand is almost entirely about Freemasonry in Spain in 1821. If you can read Spanish, the entire novel can be read here: es.wikisource.org/wiki/El_Grande_OrienteIt has not been translated into English.
