Well, at last we have a decision, and I'm pleased to announce we're in:-) Patrick will be initiated in 2 weeks' time, 11 Feb, and mine is 4 March. I bet he's gonna be real smug for a month knowing something I don't *LOL*
Needless to say we're both very excited and looking forward to the next step on our Masonic journey:-)

Congratulations to you both, and who knows, by the Grace of God you may follow each other through the Offices and into the Chair. Good Luck!

Cora, best wishes for your initiation. Will you both be initiated in the same lodge? Hi Ingo, Yep - No 717 Light of Amen Ra :-) Wow, that feels good, to drop that 'petitioning' bit! Cora

Well, 'minor' change of plan ... Patrick's having second thoughts; he's not sure joining a comasonic order is the right thing for him at this point in his life.
I'm a little disappointed, of course, but I think he's doing the right thing. I remember only too vividly my entry into the Circle for my Wiccan initiation - it may ring a bell with you: "It is better to perish upon the blade than to enter with fear in your heart". These words, of course, are accompanied by a blade held at the candidate's heart, and the whole act is intended to make the candidate think again: is this the right thing for him/her?
It was a difficult decision for him, but I'm proud of him for taking it now.
So, change of plan alright - my initiation's now been brought forward to 11 Feb, so I need to find myself something white to wear very soon now!

Sorry to hear that. However, once you are in and can, as far as you are permitted and feel wise, inform him of what it is like then he can, I am sure, revive his application and join with you. Still, it brings your own Initiation forward.
I must say that in restrospect I am sorry I didn't join a Scots Lodge but that was the way life turned out for me. I came down to the South of England in my late teens and have lived here , Reading- Brighton- Reading, ever since, not easy to join and attend a Lodge under the GL of Scotland!

Yep, that's what he says as well. It's by no means a definite 'no'; it's just not right for him at this time, and as I said I'm proud of him for making that decision now - it can't have been an easy one. Gods, don't I know it - T minus 10 and counting! Here's me thinking I had 5 weeks to find a nice white outfit ... had to schedule an emergency meeting with my designer friend who's offered to make my outfit for me, bless her heart. "Want something flattering?" she says, "I can do summat nice with the waist line ..." "Nah," says me, "No point; I'll be wearing an apron anyway." Sniggers. "Something fancy then?" "Nah," says me, "No point - it'll become crowded enough with regalia in time" *LOL* She understands - she's a lewis. So 11 Feb's the big day. I'm taking 10 Feb off to help my friend finalise the outfit which should be good fun; haven't seen her in far too long. That raises an interesting question - if you were ever to move up North and were able to join a Lodge under GLoS, would you have to take your Craft degrees again, or is that only between GLs that don't recognise one another? Cora Cora just a teeny bit nervous is a good way to be. I am sure will have a very special night When I see the Light of Amen Ra, I am reminded of a very Senior Mason - Her Mother Lodge was Light of Amen Ra - Not sure of the number ( In England) She was a 33Degree Mason and a Mason for over 50 Years - a truly remarkable Mason - I hope you get as much out of your Masonry as she did
