Another thought as to why Men and Women belong in a Freemasons Lodge. I read in an article "The Pillars of The Temple" Symbols of the heart and mind. initiation and intellect, negative and positive. All entrants to the temple must pass between the pillars - another illustration of the 'Golden Mean' - Neither the heart, nor the mind alone will gain admittance, only when each is developed equally with its partner it is only when you have men and women, can you have partners

This may seem strange, coming from a Co-Mason, but I'm not convinced about that, Whistler.
We all have a feminine and masculine aspect within us. In males it's called the Anima, and in females the Animus. It is perfectly possible for two people of the same gender to make that truly balanced connection by relating to one another's Anim(a)/(us).
I don't believe single-gender Masonry is per definition unbalanced, just as I don't believe Co-Masonry is per definition balanced. The presence of men and women in a Co-Masonic Lodge is just an outward experience -- the real balance is attained within, and that can just as readily happen in a single-gender Lodge as in a Co-Masonic Lodge.
HGW,
Cora
