The engraving (1602) of Dr. Heinrich Khunrath (1560-1605) with a compass in his right hand. The first arm of the compass which Khunrath is holding at the centre of the circle has the word "Hieroglyphics" written on it. Hieroglyphics were first translated by Champollon in 1882. The text within the circle at the point of the second arm of the compass means "under the guidence of God" or "under God's guidence".
