Freemasons do so much good and positive stuff around the world but it rearly gets a mention on the news. This is why I was so delighted to find the following link. starbulletin.com/2001/09/15/news/story13.htmlI was wondering what other similar events take place elsewhere but especially this side of the world?

You might be interested to read of the Australian Catholic Knights of the Southern Cross working together with Freemasons (and others) in the "Working Tools for Timor" program in the state of Victoria in Australia. See www.cathnews.com/news/312/85.php and also www.etan.org/et2003/november/23-30/26studnt.htm [ if the link is broken please use tinyurl.com/58pfz ] To continue the "good news" theme, I am informed that the Salesian Order may be working with Australian Freemasons on a Tsunami project in India later in 2005.

Nice links Richard.
That's the sort of thing we need to read more of. Some people are under the misapprehension that there is constant disharmony between the Freemasons and the Catholic Church, to use but one example. It is extremely refreshing that there are areas of interest where everyone can come together and work towards a particular aim.

Dont miss the things right under your nose ? Grand Charity £ 100,000 immediate grant to Tsunasmi appeal. Plus a grant of £ 300,000 for children www.essex-lodges.org/files/misc/05%20grand%20charity%20support%20for%20the%20asian%20tsunami%2003.docand TLC Appeal Teddies for Loving Care Registered Charity No 1087765 TLC TEDDY TIMES – Issue No1! September 2004 TLC BRINGS 100,000 SMILES TLC has now distributed over 100,000 TLC Teddies to A&E units! A magnificent Milestone of dedication, care and achievement, and a demonstration of Freemasonry in Action. That means that probably over 500,000 parents, grandparents, siblings and friends of those children have been touched by freemasonry by your kindness and care. What have you started? It is now just over three years since we approached you as Lodges in Essex with an idea. We were pushing our luck but hoped that you would all understand the idea and help fund it. What a brilliant job you did. Every member of every Lodge in Essex should be proud of the part that they have played in the TLC Appeal. Without you none of this would have happened. So what is it that you've done? You have helped bring a smile to over 100,000 severely distressed children at A & E Units, touching around 500,000 parents, grandparents, siblings and friends of those children with freemasonry. Your support for this simple idea has convinced over 18 other Provinces to now operating the scheme at their A & E Units, even as far north as Carlisle, with other Provinces looking at the idea. Well done – be proud – without you it couldn't have happened. But please remember, we want to keep this going. We want to continue to demonstrate 'freemasonry in the community' in this very practical way. www.essex-lodges.org/news.htmMasonic Relief Grants www.grandcharity.co.uk/main.htmNon-Masonic charities www.grandcharity.co.uk/main.htmand the list goes on :-

That is good to see but it would be really pleasing to read such a positive story in our sneering, over intellectual Broadsheets here in the UK. Whenever they report anything about The Craft it is either adverse e.g. about the former Mason and convicted criminal Noye, or the corrupt John Poulson or is written in a sarcastic and mocking tone such as the report of the Meeting at the Royal Albert Hall to consecrate the new London Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Chapter.
They don't have to LIKE us, but at least they should either report us accurately and with balance or if they wish simply ignore us if Freemasonry is somehow considered to be at varience with their Editorial Policies.

One of my best friends (in fact a business partner) who is 81 (And still works 6 days a week) went back in The Chair on his 50th year as a Mason which coincided with the Lodges centenary, he has now celebrated 55 years as a Mason.
Wonderful man. ;D

Very well said, Steve. Chris Your 83 year old friend sounds like someone who has a spirit I can only dream of. I came across the following today. "Madcap Mozart: A joint production of Magic Flute will open Friday" Madcap MozartGreat reading about a familar topic.
