Has anyone had a look at the J.S.M Ward Handbook series for the EA, the FC and the MM? I'm thinking of getting the FC one but would appreciate a review.

Hi Temple,
I have the EAs handbook and have found it thought provoking and very helpful in trying to understand what the heck had just happened to me during my initiation.
I obviously don't know what's in the FC handbook, but if it's anything like the EA handbook I wouldn't read it before taking 2nd degree if I were you -- it might reveal aspects you would prefer to experience before seeing them explained.
S&F,
Cora

Ward's work is not universally liked. He had a rather distinct view of the spiritual side of Freemasonry - if that is what you are after, then read him. If you like your masonry simple, avoid! You can read these books on line at freemasons-freemasonry.com/masonic_books_online.html - a look through might help you decide whether to buy acopy.

I'm a Wilmshurst fan myself. Very easy to read and thought provoking. But it's good to read from a wide source.... and preferable that you only read to your particular level.

I'd recommend reading it - Wilmshurst, Ward and but few others are part and parcel of what are some views on Freemasonry, and certainly worth reflecting on.

I have the FC Handbook, and found it rather hard going. The EA book just seemed to flow better somehow. Definately not to be read before your passing though!
Will be ordering the MM one after September, Any views on that one? Squared

I have today received two books by posts entitled.
The meaning of Masonry
and
Masonic Initiation
both are by W L Wilmhurst
briefly browsing through them i realise i am going to need some quiet times to digest these books and probably read and re read them many times.
