I have been meaning to read "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and I have just started to do so. Another night of insomnia, methinks ! Has anyone read the said book ?

I have read this book! It is one of my all time favorites. Truly indespensible.
The descriptive language is out of this world, for want of a better description. 'Tis the ultimate in surrealism. eg. Magic carpets at totally random points in the story.
My favorite part is when some of the characters discover an old ship in the middle of the jungle. One covered with orchids and other flowers. The imagery is sublime.
Cheers!
Have you read "Love in the time of Cholera" yet?

Freemasons get mentioned a few times in 100 Years of Solitude, as they do in Marquez's best book, The Autumn of the Patriarch. They are just mentioned; Marquez doesn't really make any comments.

It's a very good book, I've read it a long time ago. May be I need to read it again this time.

I like his work - sometimes its difficult to get into but 'love in the time of cholera' was excellent, and also has a couple of passing ref's to masonry IIRC
