"State the nature of the influence you desire to bequeath to your Brn"
This is a direction upon the 'application' form when joining our Lodge and I must admit it caught me unawares at the time. I was joining Freemasonry to learn, to share and to grow - but never once did it occur to me that I was expected to influence it. What had I to give - not much was my first thought.
Upon reflection I decided that I would influence them with my sense of humour. Lighten their load so as to speak. Even if it wasn't a noble quality like fortitude it all worked out OK and I noticed that I actually did influence our Lodge.
It is now fifteen years later and again I am to choose an influence - but this time it is what influence I wish to bequeath to the world at large (Freemasonry sure is a steep learning curve!)
This time I 'knew' what my gift was to be - HOPE (to the hopeless).
It is my small hope now that all readers of this thread will give some personal consideration to the above question and post it here. A single word will do. Now this could be the shortest thread in history, but I am rather hoping that sooner or later it beats the twelve pages of the Initiation of Women thread.
A thoughtful, stated objective takes on a life of its own - who knows what magic we can weave on the world if we really think about it. We all have some degree of Light so I ask you again…
What influence would you like to bequeath to either Freemasonry or Humanity at large?

A good question.
I guess my legacy (including to myself in the next incarnation) is some progress towards:
- a new form for Masonry based on stewardship of the planet - some foundation components for the coming South Pacific civilisation - better relationships with the 7 Masons who make a lodge perfect (7 Spirits before the throne of God in the Revelation of St John) - revealing more of the Great Mother (the sponsor of The Widow Isis and the source of the plumbline) - trampling underfoot the king of terrors (Apopis)
Cheers

Have you considered what mechanisms (and justifications) exist behind hopelessness?
Recently I have had the privilege to work with a woman who knows that she has been hopelessly disempowered lifetime after lifetime.
Each life she longs for death to escape the hopelessness but with an instinct that the next life will be the same.
In this life, for the first time in perhaps 9000 years, after a number of external interventions she is emerging into the light and has now become what she calls a "doer". In her experience the world is divided into doers and those who cannot do things.
In observing her process I have seen multiple layers of dark interference both human and spirit.
I am in wonder at the complexities of energy and intelligence that are used to maintain humans in states of disempowerment.
These disempowered people are equally in wonder when they are told to pull themselves together - as if they have not spent lifetimes attempting just that.
So I applaud your task of bringing hope to the hopeless. It is a task of great magnitude and significance grappling with the powers of cosmic darkness.
I deduce from that that powers of cosmic light (& colour) are with you - else the task would be beyond conceptualising.
And we have already seen one of your sponsors in the form of the crowned/rainbow serpent.
Go for it
Best wishes
Russell

Myself.
I give much of my time to Freemasonry. As Judge of the GOI's Supreme Court I go often to Rome, for the disciplinary proceedings. This experience enriched me quite a lot, because I learned that it is not at all possible to render Justice without having put oneself into the other’s shoes. I will carry on two other proceedings, then my time will be elapsed.
I am also engaged in my Rite. I was President of my Chamber for three consecutive years, always elected by my Bren. Now i am organizing the Provincial structure.
But the most beautiful thing, surely, is to take care of the youngsters. I like to talk with them, to hear their progresses, to help them in deepening certain items, to act as a father rather than a brother.
I have two daughters, 25 and 21 years old. Man says that I have no sons: false, I have plenty of them, all males!

Whistler - I have just come across your Thread of the Affirmation in the Co-Masonry section ....sorry ... this Forum is so big I have not been able to get to everything as yet. Any chance that Munkholt, Taylorsman, Staffs and Stewart and Whistler, of course, would like re re-affirm on this thread also? Maat

My first three goals will be to show dedication (infuse energy, support activities, be attentive and present); ask questions (seek light for myself, but perhaps also to get brethren to think); and be silent.
And here's from the Affirmation-thread:
3 - testament That I put my mind and creative thinking to work - share ideas and interpretations with my brethren. Put to good use my organizational experience - in practical matters, as well as offering my own visions for the future of the order. Practicing a high quality of work in the lodge. Friendship and loyalty.

Perhaps the best gift of all we can give to Freemasonry, is to spread the Moral values the craft teaches us, to everybody we meet

My Gift to Freemasonry will be the same as that to the World - encouragement:- * to do away with appearances but seek out the Self instead * to accept self-responsibility in all we do, say, think or neglect to do * to speak truthfully, always * to be all we can be * to cut through the layers and find the truth * to act in compassion and wisdom in all we do
