I've noticed that 80% of rites and degrees were sprung up in this century, as well as COUNTLESS masonic-style bodies that may or may not be "masonic". My question is why THAT century did things explode so much compared to other centuries??
I am going to provide just a SMALL FRACTION of some masonic entities that were created in the 1700s
1758 - Ancient And Accepted Rite 1750 - Chapter of Clermont 1754 - Rite of Perfection 1786 - French or Modern Rite 1754-1760 - Rite of Elected Cohens 1767 - Rite of St. Martin 1758 - Emperors of the East and West 1774 - Philosophic Scotch Rite 1767 - Order of African Architects 1775 - Rite of Philalethes 1760 - Illuminati of Avignon 1783 - Rite of Swedenborg 1767 - Rite of Zinnendorff 1782 - Reformed Rite 1784 - Reformed Helvetic Rite 1778 - Order of True Masons 1798 - Fessler's Rite 1740 - Rite of the Grand Royal Mother Lodge of the Three Globes 1740 - Rite of Mopses 1766 - Schroeder's Rite 1780 - Primitive Rite of Narbonne 1739 - Order of Mustard Seed 1784 - Knights & Ladies of the Dove 1784 - Knights of the Roman Eagle 1730 - Adoptive Rite ( This one is iffy ) 1776 - Bavarian Illuminati
Kay, honestly, I'm stopping now, this is becoming tedious but I swear I can go on for about another 3 pages

Some Orders are much more recent; I think the SRIA dates from 1869. Why not start another? I think I'll start one myself, anyone interested?
