You could as well have re-titled it, in terms of Freemasonry, "A beacon of morality in a sea of 'moral' absolutism..."

I seem to recall Arjuna asking Krishna what should he do in the coming battle. While one side was righteous and the other not, he had relatives on both sides and in any case did not believe in war.
And Krishna replies something like: He who is united with Me is as untouched by sin as a lotus leaf by water.
This might seem to indicate that actions aligned with the will of the God do not rely upon the mores (customs) of the local people for validity
