Hello all,
I'm fairly new here as well as to Masonry. I will be initiated into the EA degree 11/30/04... tomorrow night!(I'm in the US)
Now before you say "that's great... post this in the new members area", what I wanted to say is something I've noticed from this forum and other Forum's I browse, is comments that Freemasonry is in danger of becoming extinct, or people join for the wrong reasons, etc... however I also see people who either just reach a new degree, or have been a mason for years, and am still learning, or people who make these forums, who support new initiates or seasoned Masons. I see how many people learn truths of what Freemasonry is and after hearing the anti's point of view still petition for membership. This is from people who come and view posts here. I believe that because of this Forum (and to some degree other forums as well) new initiates are becoming more serious about Freemasonry, and more people are wanting to become Masons. I think if we could at least get people who inquire about masonry could be refered here instead of a lodge website, which is helpful in it's own right, but with kind of a generic feel and with some but not much or too much info, I think that membership would dramatically increase. I've already seen it happening. Alot of new initiates have said that they have joined a masonic forum or two, and while not disregarding anti websites, decided to join. They are enthusiatic. They know what freemasonry will and will not do for them. They know it will require study, and in some parts of the world, ALOT of time. Sorry I tend to go on and on. I'm almost done. Basically, with this forum and with the people that are regular members here, our membership may not skyrocket, but it will and has slowly been increasing.
Freemasonry will survive and I belive is getting the membership it needs. (No I'm not specifically talking about myself.) I know this post was longwinded and I probably could have said all of this with less words, I just felt I needed to express my thoughts and gratitude.
