i think the western magickal undrstanding of LHP and RHP is what is being discussed (ie the difference between invocation and evocation), however from an eastern pov i think the terms lhp and rhp would have a different definition.
in the east the RHP would be associated with conventional morality, having a vegetarian diet, being more logical then mystical, looking at karma from an esoteric point of view, avoiding the world, strict and seemigly arbitrary rules, avoiding contact with dangerous spirits, avoiding entirely dealing with strong emotions, basically its a path of renunciation avoid what is impure and cultivate what is pure, focusing on the mind
the lHP here would be associated with purposely persuing heterodox morality, eating impure foods (meat, wine, drugs), being more mystical then logical, living in the world with the passions rather then avoiding them but looking at them in a different manner then ordinary people, not having too many formal rules but instead having an understanding of cause and effect so one will not engage in activities that would lead to self desturction, using dangerous spirits by converting them to serve ones cause, using strong emotions and putting them in the direction of ones spiritual goals, basically a path of alchemy or transformation of the impure to the pure, focusing on the body
but these are just general guidelines most systems in the east are a mix of the 2.

"these are just general guidelines most systems in the east are a mix of the 2."
That is exactly what many have been trying to say all along.

In India the "Left hand Path" is called the "vama marg" and alludes to it involving FEMININE energies, since the "left side" is associated with WOMEN. Any practices involving WOMEN are by definition "left handed". What most people don't realize is that just about EVERY bit of spiritual teaching available out there is directed at MEN. WOMEN taking up practices meant to facilitate spiritual capacities in MEN is EXTREMELY DETRIMENTAL to their progress. F'r instance, in Taoistic practices, such as Tai Chi, energies are customarily grounded in the "lower jiao", i.e. the belly, or "hara". However, for women the energies should be grounded in the "MIDDLE jiao" i.e. between the breasts, according to texts describing practices of female Taoists. But is this "common knowledge"? It sure wasn't for ME; I had to stumble across it in a book on old Taoist texts on women's practices! And you can be SURE that there are similar 'stumbling blocks" in WESTERN Esoteric Paths AS WELL.

Oh, and the term "Left-Hand Path" is code for "the Path that includes the rites that involve the use of entheogens and intoxicants, and sexual ritual".

However in the female attainment systems, a virgin is a beginner, like an apprentice. We women would never elevate a virgin to a status worthy of worship.

Then again, we are preaching to the choir here. I like to think that the Freemasons refused to initiate women in order to do no harm.
But most probably they followed the ancient assumption that women were inferior because they went crazy when they were initiated.

But most probably they followed the ancient assumption that women were inferior because they went crazy when they were initiated. They are having this particular discussion right now on another forum and it ain't pretty. Nothing there I haven't already read on other forums. OK, I know that a lot of men tend to get squeamish or nervous when you start talking about sex within an esoteric context. Tarot discussions, for instance, will quickly stall out by the time you reach Key III, The Empress. So, when you start explaining the pomegranite and why it's on the big phallic symbol of a pillar, they tend to stick to the lecture material and just don't go there. I think that they are just afraid to talk about certain things in mixed company. If I dared to say something like that over on that other forum, it would like mass insanity. As for going batshit crazy after they become initiated, yes, that always happens. I've seen it happen a lot, especially when people try to join the Great White Lodge, and when you don't even have the one true real knowledge, it gets very weird. Some of these people all get together and try to form their own lodges, then wonder why things don't run smoothly. I've seen forums they control everything. I'm glad TGAOTU has a great sense of humor. Hey, to refocus just a little, has anyone yet brought up the 3 pillars of the Qabalah or Masonry in relationship to the LH vs RH paths, i.e., Power vs. Wisdom? These cats go power-crazy or out of their minds without Love to balance things out. I like the path of Balance. As a woman I've not only seen it, I've experienced it. It took between 6 months and a year to recover my sanity, depending on how strong the initiator was. I have been lucky. Many times the damage to the psyche is permanent. The Great White Lodge is meant for women or anima-based personality types. Men may enter only if they are qualified messiahs or are intellectual types who have completed the path of the divine feminine and broken through into heaven or as you call it The Great White Lodge. All others get an overdose of intellectual energy when they enter the GWL prematurely. Such an imbalance creates Lucifer or Hitler types. I agree that the path of Balance is the way to go. Women, for the most part, are endowed with love from birth. They need to balance that with some organization and smarts. I have drawn a blueprint of the inner sanctum on my website: www.JesusWedding.com It maps out the two paths. Whether you call them masculine & feminine; light & dark; or right & left doesn't seem to make any difference. This mechanism is universal throughout the ages and religions. I am still building this site. I still have lots to add the Satan (Overload of Passion/wine) vs. Lucifer (Overload of Grace/bread) element and The Four Pillars or archetypes of perfection. You will find the result of initiation of a woman in the story of Medusa.

I once dreamed that a LHP group wanted me to take leadership. I objected that being on the RHP I knew nothing of their rituals, but they thought that did not matter. I do not recall whether I accepted but suspect not as I did not have follow-up dreams.
It does however remind me of the concept of being beyond light and dark.

I answered a bit of both although there are some occult pathways which view the distinction as arbitrary.
For example,
I don't believe there is any harm in the arbitrary path as every realized person has their own guards to protect them from potential danger. Some even more.
ETA: No disrespect intended but this sort of argumentation must be a training exercise of sorts? It sounds very much like minuscule yelling to my mind? If it were to have real power it must be founded on truth and not a partisan conception of that truth.

I have yet to meet a LHP practitioner who did not seem to me to be rather low in the food chain. I have come to the same conclusion about various famous magicians of the 20th century, partly by direct observation.
I am not sure that the LHP is actually a free choice, although I did have a friend who said that he had incarnated to be with Jesus but was killed before the target events.
He said that his Soul (rather than personality) was so angry that it went on to the LHP for several incarnations. I have not attempted to verify that but at the time I knew him he was a genuine 3rd degree initiate with proper control of that part of the mental plane within his aura. So in principle he should have been moderately free of illusion.
