It's good to be skeptical of any accounts of religion, magic, science or pseudo-science. Actually, all claims ought to be sought out before accepted. To seek out the notions presented in the fullest. This speech I agree with in the larger portion. Thanks for posting it.

Your welcome. It is IMHO an excellent piece by Rorty. BUT, just to point out both Rorty and James where anti-skeptics for they both argued that skepticism relies on absolutes that can and should be deconstructed.

I'm definitely for the idea that skepticism ought be applied even to skepticism. Just because someone is a skeptic or claims to be a skeptic does not release them from scrutiny.

Just pointing out the fundemental differences between Skepticism and Postmodern Pragmatism. Neither James or Rorty would have advocated the classical skeptic position.

I am not discussing the classical Skepticism, just as Rorty is necessarily advocating the classical Pragmaticism. Deconstructionist theory can be applied to the idea of deconstructionism itself as skepticism might. Individuals claiming Pragmaticism are open to skepticism, as anyone can put claim to a word and not have any application of it. Many pragmatics would, for example, dismiss the proofs offered by religion or magic.
