Papus is an important link in a long chain of Masonic tradition when it comes to the Egyptian Rites that goes all the way back to the 1730's. Seeing how that is the tradition myself and many embrace all over the world I find him to be very important. I find Yarker, Wescott and Reuss to be important too. Especially Yarker ;D Love and Light, I like Yarker very much. I have some papus material, and have read some Reuss, but I personally prefer Yarker to either of them. I also like A.E. Waite, Manly Palmer Hall, and C.W. Leadbeater . I enjoy quite a few of the Theosophists, including Besant and esp. Blavatsky. I thought Pike had some things of interest, yet I do not entirely agree nor disagree with him or anyone that I have read. I always approach any Masonic writer with the understanding that just because they wrote it, I am under no obligation to agree with it. I also will not ignore a writer simply because they are a 'fringe' (that term makes me laugh out loud! ;D) Mason.

I have access to the PRIMITIVE RITES, and they are quite fascinating. Amazing, even more so when you work them. ;D Love and Light, I definitely have not worked them, yet reading them they are amazing. I also enjoyed the Lousiana working, though there is little enough extant of that.

No. Sorry, I left on a tangent. I meant the long-defunct G.O. of LA from the 19th century. There isn't much, but it is interesting.

I would be interested in your findings. Independent lodges can be tough to find, on purpose ;D I have a Santeria Rite that was supposedly developed by the GO of LA but who knows? I have zero proof of that. Love and Light,

I would disagree with Mike here. All writers who have a certain amount of masonic knowledge and offer different views away from UGLE induced thought and opinion in my opinion are important. I would not neccesarily immediately think that Papus was a masonic writer in the same way the Yarker, Reuss and Westcott were. Contempory of without doubt, and in my opinion far more important (Just my opinion!) especially in the fields he paticularly knew about and practised. Papus and Yarker did work closely together for a period of time

If people want to restrict themselves that's cool too. It's all good. I am of the school of where the more information the better. Love and Light,
