I'm a new member of this forum. I'm very interested in the freemasonry philosophy. I have come across many freemasonry sites on the internet. I'm here in this forum to learn about freemasonry. I live in a small country in Africa called Cameroon. I'm a student currently doing my master degree program. In my country, freemasonry is regarded by many as a secret diabolical organization (society). Many people hate and are afraid of masons even thou i have never seen any mason before. Many here belief that masons drink human blood, invoke demons, sacrifice human, etc. Out of my personal research through the internet, i realize that all what people here think about freemasonry is false. I love the freemasonry philosophy, teaching, charitable works, etc. I don't know if there is any English speaking freemasonry lodge or chapter in Cameroon. I heard there are french freemasonry lodges in the country and everything is done using the french language. My country is bilingual, speaking English and French language. I would like a mason in the forum to enlighten me more on freemasonry. I would also love that he become my spiritual teacher or instructor; instructing me on a progressive steps. Thank You....

Welcome, VictoryThere are several Masonic jurisdictions in Cameroun. The present La Grande Loge Nationale du Cameroun was formed from lodges previously under La Grande Loge Nationale Française (GLNF). Henderson and Pope's book, Vol II of "Freemasonry Universal" (published 2000) states that on 28 June 1999 GLNF chartered three lodges in Cameroon and created the District du Cameroun: - Lodge "Alliance Camerounaise"#1205 meeting at Yaounde on 4th Mondays of October, January and April - Emulation ritual - Lodge "Mont Cameroun" #1206 meeting at Yaounde on 4th Mondays of September, December, March and June - Scottish Rite (Craft) Ritual - Lodge "Tradition Harmonie Lumiere" #1207 to meet at Douala - Emulation ritual There is also the United Grand Orient and Grand Lodge of Cameroun (Grands Orient & Loge Unis du Cameroun) formed in 1969, a member of CLIPSAS. The first lodge of this Grand Orient was founded in 1931 In 2000 Grande Loge du Sénégal had one lodge in Cameroun, Lodge Zenith #22 Grande Loge Symbolique (ex Grand Rite Equatorial) had lodges in Cameroun also, as did Grande Loge féminine de France (there is now a Grande Loge Féminine du Cameroun). The nearest English speaking lodges to Cameroon are in Nigeria. You might also see several pages of the book "Imperialistic politics in Cameroun" by Carlson Anyangwe - see online at books.google.com/books?id=MoG0j9loGSMC&pg=PA122#v=onepage&q&f=falseAn article in L'Express claims that President Paul Biya is a Freemason (and/or a Rosicrucian) - see www.lexpress.fr/actualite/societe/francs-macons-l-afrique-aux-premieres-loges_472662.htmlor www.africafiles.org/article.asp?ID=19700My best wishes to you, and hope the above is of some use.
