Reading that Many Masons in big English cities go to lodge , by train or straight after work - Do you wear your Dinner Suit on the Train or at work. ?

Most UGLE lodges wear lounge suits, so wearing my suit to work is not a big deal - having a white shirt on can be tricky though. After several disasters I've learnt that taking the shirt and changing before a meeting is the way forward!

Most DJ wearing Lodges in my experience are Saturday Lodges so no real problem. I would then wear my DJ on the train. Usually however I wear the Provincial Officer's Uniform of the grey striped trousers and black jacket. As my work is at a bench with soldering etc I would not wear a suit to work but if going straight to a weekday Meeting I would get changed at the end of my shift in the Gents Toilet then travel to the Lodge thus attired complete of course with white shirt and black tie (see Ties Thread). When I did an Admin / Managerial job in the past I wore a black or navy blue pinstripe suit and white shirt to work anyway, so simply took off my Company Tie, (itself a nice dark one) and put my black tie on instead when going to Lodge.

Most of my meetings are during the week, Weekends I try to reserve for my Children. I normally set off from home around 3.30 pm either in Formal Masonic wear (Grey Stripes/Black Jacket White shirt and whatever tie) Or For installations DJ and Bow Tie, always on the train and always happy that people (if they are bothered) should know I am a mason.

We have our installation on Friday which is a DJ affair for lodge members and preferred but there is no objection to normal attire
