On another list, some years ago before his life changed, I saw a request for advice about creating a Masonic garden. On yet another list (details forgotten), more recently there was discussion prompted by a similar request for ideas. I thought it may have been on this forum but a search was unrewarding. I'd be interested in ideas for creating a small Masonic garden. I hasten to add, not a cemetery garden, and not on a large scale such as at www.esoteric.msu.edu/VolumeV/Freemasonill.html - also see www.freemasons-freemasonry.com/phpnews/show_news.php?uid=44

Why not run it past the head gardener of the Botanical Gardens.... They are usually looking for new ideas, or features. Take along the article you posted. You might induce them to give it some thought because of the famous early Sth Australians and their connection to Masonry. Once you get him interested, then run it past the GM. I do believe they would be interested in a project like this (or have been in the past). I could see a centrepiece with 3 Pillars (covered with red roses?), or a stylised Sun-dial surrounded by a divided circular design with approp plantings, then all this enclosed within a square. Stone plinths marking the four Directions etc etc (That was fun) You could do a simple and classic design like this in very small area. Instead of a centre piece...... how about a garden sized chess board with pieces? (stroke of brilliance there, Maat). People would then be able to play around with Masonry? Maat

Following up to previous posts, in 2006 Cheshire Freemasons sponsored a garden under the title "The Spirit of Freemasonry". The link contains one photograph and a line drawing. S&F Ricardo

Thank you Ricardo. In a short time (a month, or so) we move into our new house which has an acre and a half of land and we were wondering what to use some of it for - you might have given us an idea
