Before the master elect has taken his obligation he removes his gloves.
Is there any meaning or reason /explanation why this is done.
Is there a symbolic reason behind this also ??

Lee
The Master Elect always removes his gloves before taking his obligation. This is so his bare right hand is on the VSL for his obligation.
The reason is that there is no barrier between his hand and The VSL thus his obligation is pure to his faith

And, symbolically, after receiving the penalty are gloves going to be useful?
I can't say more except that I wonder how many Installed Masters do not appreciate the grip used in the Inner Workings.

Yes, a very good point Bruce!
Now on the more mundane aspects of the ME and his Gloves. I have always felt that it looks sloppy for him to take his gloves off and stuff them in his pockets when walking up to the Pedestal to be Obligated as ME. I have seen a neater method where once he has been presented to the Installing Master by the DC,his Proposer, or a Senior PM, "To receive at his hands the benefit of Installation" he takes off his gloves and these are placed by the DC on the shelf under the WM's Pedestal for him to put on again when he is Installed in the Inner Workings.
