Is any member of this forum a member of QCCC? What would you expect of being a member there?

Andrew
I have been a member of QCCC for 10 years, As you are probably aware QCCC stands for Quator Coranati Correspondence Circle, and by being a member you receive all the summonses for the Quator Coranati Lodge meetings (5 per year) and a copy of the Transactions for that year.
To be a member of the actual Lodge you have to be extremely literate and be able to produce and present a paper to the members relevant to freemasonry. As a member of QCCC you are invited to attend all the meetings and invited to dine, I have unfortunately never gone to a meeting although I have been thwarted twice by circumstances beyond my control.
I would recommend anyone interestred in Researching masonic History join because you get some wonderful articles written by some very well informed brethren and it can only add to your overall masonic knowledge.
At the moment I believe it costs £22.00 per year and the transactions are sent out in an impressive bound book.

Middlepillar,
First of all please check your messages if you are still around ;D
Secondly are only papers on Masonic History presented? Anything philosophical/symbolical?

Yes, but I resigned from it and will probably join Cornerstone and Cannonbury instead.
They do issue a very good annual book, the "Ars" which has some papers etc of interest, and have a panel of really good speakers but I feel as an Institution they follow too much of an "UGLE" party line for me. I prefer a more independent Masonic Research Society.

Taylorsman,
I have been to 2 CMRC meetings so far, and the first one was fantastic (on kaballah), the recent one on Sir Francis Bacon was average (IMHO).
It is worth going but they are on weekdays always (Wednesdays). is that good for you?
Next meeting...Alchemy & astrology. 2nd degree material really...

Andrew, I will be going onto swinging shifts one week 7-3 one 2-10 so on early shift I may be able to make such meetings. I'm glad that CMRC is more "Esoteric" than QCCC which I found was not.

Andrew
I have sent a reply to your message
I agree with Steve, the QCCC although very good is very much into UGLE and does tend to toe the party line (is that toe or tow?). I enjoy the annual transactions which I recieve but it is very mainstream.
You are about to join SRIA and they have a 'Study Group' that meet once a month at Hampstead, which I have a feeling you will be attending! I went last week to listen to a talk on the Compte de St Germain (Whistlers eyes light up!) It was extremely interesting and informative. I was left with a good impression of St Germain and there were some very interesting questions, every month their is a different talk and discussion, again unfortunately I cannot make that many but I would recommend this study group to you and any other member of SRIA who is free on the 3rd Sats of the month except Dec!
I would be happy to talk to you more about it when I see you (very soon)

Let's hope you can make the next meeting. Some of the next meetings are titled: The Old Gods & The Craft Traditions -April The Angelic Legacy of Dr John Dee- May The nature and history of Modern Paganism (Druidry alert!)- June. And November a big one about the Light...

Looking forward to seeing you again on Monday, Andrew, for Jumile's raising.
Like TM I'm more inclined to join Cornerstone Soc, than QCCC - less rigid in it's approach.
That said, QCCC cannot be ignored as a source of information for the masonic researcher.
Good news about SRIA, I hope your night goes well, brother.

Chaps, I'm looking at furthering my research into all things Masonic - So would you say it is a good move to join QCCC or op for one of the independent research ones ? or both ;D
regards
Chas

Passing, boyo, passing. But thanks anyway. ;D I would have joined QCCC in October if there wasn't a requirement that one first be an MM to join. I read something unusual - and a little wild-eyed - the other day that basically went along the lines of QCCC having a "hidden agenda to trick the world into believing that English Freemasonry was the first in the world" or similar. Particularly with reference to UGLE's long-standing statement that it was first and the notable Scottish difference of opinion. Wish I could remember where I read it... and if it was here, then my apologies for calling one of you wild-eyed.

I would say QCCC is a good place to start. It's well balanced, authoritative and widely respected. As far as your little gem about a QCCC hidden agenda, well I really wouldn't know . QCCC is an English research organisation which I think is inevitably going to concentrate on English masonry first and foremost. I hear enough of masonic conspiracies from outside the Craft to pay too much attention to those spawned from the inside .
