Have just been re-reading 'Siren call of hungry ghosts'by Joe Fisher. Briefly its about a brit journo in Canada who becomes involved with a friend with leukemia, who becomes a medium on account of her illness.
A 'circle' of sitters was formed, as each new member joined, so they would have a guide contact them via said medium.
The journo Fisher requested proof and one example will suffice to get to my point.
One guide claimed to have been a WW2 bomber pilot. On returning to England he was able to verify the following.
The sqd existed as stated.
The sqd crest matched the guides description
The type of plane flown for 1942 matched.
The fact they, the pilots, were billeted initially on a racecourse and slept in the stands matched.
A voice on tape was seemingly matched to a certain member of the sqd.
So far so good. However the crucial test, that is military records, did'nt match. There was no such person in existence as that claimed by the guide, despite all the other verifiable info !
This was the pattern for all the other guides coming through.
Fisher concluded that the guides were spirits, but of a low order, playing with the sitters for their own amusement.
I want to raise a few points for peoples opinions.
Were these low astral entities as Fisher concluded ? The medium was not developed but had this thrust upon her by her illness.
Was this some form of psi, again brought on by the illness.
Do some spirits lose their 'identity' memory. This does'nt seem likely in view of other developed mediums.
Names were given, but always the wrong ones.(the medium spoke correctly in Greek dialects, but got the name of village wrong ??)
There are a number of other points to address that will come out if the thread is of interest to anyone.
I would like opinions on what was happening.
(we are of course assuming it is genuine as always.A small postscript is that Fisher, if I remember correctly, has since committed suicide. RIP Joe)
