I read somewhere the following. Apocalypse - (Greek: greek letters) Literally: The lifting of the veil) is a term applied to the disclosure to certain persons of something hidden from the mass of humankind. Any Greek Scholar out there like to comment

The Greek apokalyptein means "to reveal", hence Revelations, because St John the Divine's vision was revealed to him in a vision or trance. You are probably thinking of apocrypha, which means "books which used to be hidden away", as they were considered to contain advanced material for spiritual contemplation by meditative students. In time, the word came to mean "spurious, worthless", and that section of the Bible called the Apocrypha was for that reason excluded from Lutheran copies of Scripture.
