My lodge, Hafnia, visits a friendship lodge in Hamburg, Germany on 13 September. This was suggested as a possible meet-up. Ryan Air flies there from Stanstead so the journey should be affordable, and John Peter can help with accommodation. The lodge is UGLE amity and works the German version of Swedish Rite, which is drastically different from most English ritual.
Something to consider ...

As a little aside, I was forwarded an email (from the secretariat or whatever) saying that unfortunately I could not go to London, as only Masters were allowed to visit abroad. Unfortunately, this came in too late. Germany should be different though, as that lodge is also "Swedish". Anyway, it seems the rules are interpreted a little differently according to whom makes the decision. But like I said: strict.

I have now booked this for myself as well (had to see if Junior behaved, but he's cool with his old man's masonry). Chas, can you send me a PM/email with your travel/hotel details?; then John Peter and I will try to plan it so we can get together.

Unfortunately the 'travelling trowels' for once had to pull out which was a great shame. Thomas informed that it was a great evening and quite a few made the trek from Copenhagen.

Eight brethren from my lodge, Hafnia, and two from another made the trip. The weather was wonderful, and good German beer was enjoyed. The hosting lodge, Matthias Claudius, was extremely generous and welcoming. There were a few interesting details that differed from our own version of Swedish Rite. And the overall aestethic presentation of the night was very elegant.
Another great visit.
