I was not quite sure whether to read "The Shadow of Solomon" or not. Would it be a wise to do so ? What say you, Brothers ?

Loved it!
I like all his books. I don't care who he is or where he comes from, he makes me look again at the familiar.

I now have the book ! Having always been fascinated of the true nature of Ark of the Covenant, I read Chapter 20 first . What a revelation ! Ormus, manna and so much more makes sense now. As for the building of the pyramids , what my thoughts were as to how they were build were confirmed by the lost "art" of levitation in masonry of the time. In addition, a recent article in Fortean Times, re: a scientific exclamation of the Ark of the Covenant backs Gardner's explanation. Needless to say, I shall, ofcourse read the entire book ! I should like to hear what other members who have read the book think when Gardner says that it is likely that this is indeed the Quest behind FM and the search for "The Word".
Kind regards, Ariel

Perhaps easy to get carried away.
A lot of the references (the ones I looked up as I thought - that can't be right) all came from the same source book - Michael of Albany's "Forgotten Monarchy". For instance, Henry VIIIths flagship Mary Rose was sunk by the Templars. Really?
LG is of course closely linked with Michael of Albany.
Equally he simply repeats old "givens" without thought to whether they are true or not. For instance, he states that there were no operative guilds of masons in the UK until the 16th Century. This is a "fact" regularly quoted by similar books - the Temple and the Lodge springs to mind, and is wrong, with the Incorporation of Masons of Glasgow being chartered by Malcolm Canmore in 1057.
Interesting ideas, but all these books become increasingly tenuous, as their source material is merely other books of a similar type, and "Theories" in one book end up being passed off as fact in the next.
