General Thoughts Of Masonry "The Initiated must not be informed but they must receive impressions, and they must be put into a certain attitude of mind, provided it be evident that they are prepared for it." ARISTOTLE

ARISTOTLE was most wise. Was he actually a Mason, though, and was he speaking about Freemasonry? I guess in the end it doesn't matter as the meaning is still very relevant. New Years resolution: Must read more Aristotle

Lee I will tell you a story of my initiation, I was told that I must remember that everyone in the Lodge Room had been through the same ceremony that I was about too, so I wasn't to worry and make sure I enjoyed myself. So I did! I spent the whole ceremony with a stupid grin on my face This apparently made such an impression on 2 of our visitors that they were heard to say "I wont be coming back until that fellow has left, he wont last long"! I never did see the 2 chaps again ;D And I promise you this is a true story!

"..... until that fellow has left, he won't last long!" A case of "The Stone that the Builders rejected" if ever there was one, Chris!

Thank you Steve, you could say the bit of rough has turned smooth over the years (only masonically speaking Funny enough to finish off this story, there was a third visitor who was with these guys (How I know the story) And he came to my Lodge about 4 years after my initiation when I was JW. I then jumped SW to go into the chair and this guy came to my installation where he told me this story and after telling me he finished by saying how wrong they were! Which is just about the biggest compliment anyone has ever paid me. We now regularly visit each others Lodges

Smiling during an initiation makes a nice change from the usual 'bricking it' face expression.
They told you to enjoy it and thats what you did. Good on you, Chris!
