At one time, I brought up for discussion how only a very few AASR degrees are actually worked in most lodges. It WAS brought up though that SOME lodges do performe most or all of the degrees.
What I was wondering, is how an individual lodge would go about changing their practice from just reading the degree out quickly to working the ritual for it. Is it primarily a decision to be made within the lodge, or does Grand Lodge have a say in it as well??

Here in England I haven't yet seen an Ordinary Rose Croix Chapter work any of the Intermediate Degrees. Most only meet two or three times a year so there will be one or two Perfections then the Installation of the new MWS, and as most Rose Croix Members are in other Orders etc they would not have the time to rehearse these. I think only the King Edward VII Chapter of Improvement works these on a demonstration basis. The Degrees from 19th to 29th are again confered in name at the Meeting held once or twice a year I think in Duke St London to confer the Knight Kadosh 30th Degree.

Before I grow old, I plan to start an AASR lodge that works ALL the degrees, to every detail....and who wants to bet that if i started it in the right city, that i would probably be overwhelmed by eager new members based on that fact!!

I would advise you not to start working the first three degrees... But let's say you started this 'Lodge'. Let's say 48 people joined immediately, all of them Master Masons, and let's say you have 8 meetings a year.
In the first year you could get two members to the 13th degree. In the second year you could either take those same two members to the 21st degree or take two other members to the 13th degree. In the third year - and this seems to be the best option - you could take the first two members up to the 30th degree. Now you have enough people to perform the degrees at a faster rate; perhaps two members twice in a day!
I can't see any problem with that!
