Just picked this up yesterday from the local book store, but a quick perusal and partial reading of HAUNTED CHAMBERS by Brother Karen Kidd offers some well-researched information concerning the early records of female Operative Masons and Speculative Freemasons. Quite worth the purchase price, and I would recommend it to anyone interested. Here is an honest honest and truthful search into a matter that is worthy of discussion. I will post a full review when I'm finished, and will be interviewing Brother Kidd later this week as well. www.hauntedchambers.com/

Apologies Brother Bill for not purchasing the book from LRI. Shipping from 'the Green and Pleasant Land' frightens me off a bit. I have read and enjoy MORGAN by Brother Dafoe, and would highly recommend either of these books-and of course the Lodgeroom International website. ;D

Did you check the price first or did you just assume. ? If you paid more than $30 I will laugh, but not too much, I am just pleased Karen has sold another book.
Dafoe has got far too much money already. He doesn't need to sell any. But I have to say his arsenal of books is really good. He works very hard at producing a quality product.
As has Karen.

Hi Brother Bill, I paid the full price ($24.95), and I did it to support the local bookstore, nothing against your fine operation at all. Since Karen and I have the same publisher for some of my own books, I could have gotten a good discount. I thought I'd just pay the price and support a.) Cornerstone Books, b.) Brother Kidd and c.) my local bookstore who has graciously helped me out in the past selling my own books. It's a small thing, but I think these can help make the difference. I used cash so I didn't have to deal with Paypal. Everybody wins, I think. ;D I do plan on ordering from your site when I am not destitute, and have paid the shipping from England for other items. It really was not too bad at all.

Thats good, - in my store I have a standard shipping calculator which puts a percentage on. So I put the book price up a bit to cover the shipping which is really low.
Books and shipping are a big problem. All the postal services go by weight, when I first started selling I got a great deal from Lewis on a fantastic book on Halls of Freemasonry £2 each, this was a glossy heavy book, beautiful - I sold them at £ 5 we were doing great until I posted the first one, cost £12 to post out. They lost me £10 each. I did not do that again.
So when Karen talked about her book, I said please make is a similar size to Stephens Warriors, that is great sensible postage price it is a big problem.
With general postage to the US, so long as it is not large or heavy lets say Stephens 'Warriors and Bankers' it will only be about £2 to post. US post is a little more I believe. UK post on small items is very cheap, 7 days usually to deliver to USA and Canada.

Finally got around to reviewing Brother Kidd's book for the Journal of the Masonic Society. I've been quite busy of late! ;D Those subscribers to the Journal will be able to read it there (assuming they use it), though I still plan on an interview and a brief review for other sites. I had a great time reading the book, and picked up on some interesting points.

It has been out for about a year now, though I didn't purchase my copies until earlier this year. Books like this will continue to generate interest for some time to come.

I agree Leo. The background and research for Haunted Chambers is impeccable and Karen should be very proud of her work.

I recommend it highly as well, brothers. I quite enjoyed and loved the book. I can't show you the TMS review in particular, but I can say Karen Kidd seemed to like the review I did when I showed it to her.

I will write one for the internet and post it here.
