Britain's Best Buildings - The Circus [Bath] For those who missed the repeat of Dan Cruickshank on BBC2 several Mondays ago, should it be repeated I would recommend watching. A wonderful explanation of various buildings in Bath and their link to not just masonry but possibly to King Solomon Temple. I spent the first half of the program thinking I could see Masonic links in the architecture, Bee Hives, Corn,Compass and Keys. And just when I had come to the conclusion I had been wrong Cruickshank - love him or hate him he is enthusiastic - then spent the next 20 minutes telling how the architecture of the Circus and Square in Bath were in themselves all Masonic symbols. What I am curious to know is how many other buildings do you know about that have Masonic symbols on them. What I would like to do is compile a list of all the buildings that members of The Masonic Forum of Light can come up with that have a link to things Masonic. The buildings need not in themselves have been associated with Lodges - The Circus in Bath for instance- but any building that has on it a Masonic symbol. I will then collate, and either email to individuals or post the results on the site depending on the amount of information and whether the Mods will let me (?) All info will be fully attributed, and as I am unable to travel very far at the present time I will rely on you to be accurate. So why are you still sat there, get outside and start looking I can feel a book coming on

There is a S&Cs on the side of Neal's Department store on Tottenham Court Road, but I think it as a carpenter's S&C and there are many other random images along the side as well.

Does this have to be in UK?
If you visit the Cathedral in Rouen There is a Chapel that has a stained glass window with all the Masonic Working Tools it is quiet a sight.
And when I drive back from Rouen There is a small Church on The Valley de la Course that has the same 'All seeing eye' that is on a dollar bill.

Thanks Staff,
Did you see the way the circus and the square make up a Key when viewed from the air?

Today I saw this statue of Thomas Cubitt in Belgravia. Obviously that's just his feet - he is laying bricks in the main statue.

The crescent does seem to suggest a key hole and yes we may be seeing something's that suits us. However if you see the circus and the square from the air then that definitely looks like a key, and I wood suggest the crescent is a 'sickle', I can't remember what the angle is but that is also of note, all according to Dan Cruickshank. And as for the crop circles Offramp, now we are heading towards the esoteric - or are we?

I showed the circus and crescent to a Mark Master Mason and he said it is indeed designed to represent/symbolise a treasurers key

When I saw the programme in question, about the Circus in Bath, I was overcome with a sense of genuine joy and inspiration. To think that somebody could come up with such an incredibly conceived architectural plan is simply beyond belief and entirely moving, to say the least. Prior to watching this programme, which was incidentally recommended by our own Steve Foley, I had absolutely zero interest in architecture. A building was a building, nothing more, nothing less.
But now no matter where I go I deliberately seek out some of the more elaborate architectural designs and could spend hours studying the structure, trying to see why it was designed in such a specific way, and so on. A truly incredible subject, and one which I am delighted to have found a respect for.
