I am not quite sure how these forums work, being that this is the first one I have ever participated in, but I'd like to be referred to as Wanderer. My husband recently became an Entered Apprentice, and while I am happy because he's happy I am also having mixed emotions about the secrecy.
If they're any Master Masons that I could confide in and pass on my questions to, I would greatly appreciate a response. I, in no way, want to seem like a nosy wife, but my curiosity has me in a stranglehold. I've read many pages online, and all of them basically say I just need to respect that he is becoming a better man- not that I doubt that- and drop the issue, which only makes me even more curious.

Hi, wanderer and welcome.
Perfectly reasonable place to ask any questions is here.
The one thing you can absolutely guarantee is that Freemasons loves talking about Freemasonry.
Only too pleased to answer any questions and I don't see why any issue needs to be dropped. There are many women Freemasons and there are many who like my Wife enjoy just the Social side of Masonry.
Secrecy in Freemasonry [just my opinion] is really just a test of loyalty. Lets say you told a friend something and she then repeated that to another, you would then know not to trust that person again. The secrets are just not that important and with a good search engine you can probably find most all of them in about 30 minutes.
If you want to know something just ask.

... I am also having mixed emotions about the secrecy. As Bill has said the official secrets of Masonry are easily available online and you will soon discover that Masons do not consider those to be the genuine secrets since those were lost. By some accounts the practice of secrecy is so that if the brethren do recover some of the genuine secrets, they will be careful about communicating them. If you are particularly keen, there are some orders in Masonry that admit both men and women, and a few that are women only. Best wishes
