I left a Royal Arch Chapter in a bit of a huff. I didn't resign and they kept asking me for dues. I was young then and I ignored all the letters. Very bad I know!
This has all come back to bite me on the bum, of course.
I cannot receive Provincial Honours without sorting it out.
But the Chapter has folded - it no longer exists!
Unto whom shall I remit the missing dues?

I am in a province.... But the Chapter was in London. I suppose that's two different provinces. Shall I converse with my Provincial Secretary or the Metropolitan Secretary?

If in doubt talk to Supreme Grand Chapter. I have found that as soon as they find out your genuine they are only too pleased to help. www.supremegrandchapter.org.uk/as part of the fees will be down to them they will know who to contact or they might work it out with you direct. When a Lodge or Chapter folds all its assetts and liabilities are handed to UGLE or in this case Supreme Grand Chapter.

Check it out with the Provincial Secretary. Good idea! In fact I did just that. I wrote to the Registrations Officer for Supreme Grand Chapter at Great Queen Street. I emailed him. I received a very rapid response from his assistant. The assistant told me that in order to obtain a Clearance Certificate I would have to pay a fee of.... wait for it .... £25. Needless to say I sent that off to them like a shot. I thought it was going to be about £200! That is for a Chapter which has folded. I am sure that if the Lodge or Chapter is still in existence then the amende would be far higher. So I got myself into a bad position but I have not been overly penalized and I am grateful to GQS for that. It is swings and roundabouts in a way, because I now intend joining a new Chapter in Surrey, so GQS is helping a Chapter somewhere indirectly.
