Hi guys/girls I was considering joining a local Masonic Lodge. I actually already did the Entered Apprentice degree but I didn't end up going all the way through with it. My question is this: Can joining a Masonic Lodge provide spiritual enlightenment, or would I be wasting my time joining a Masonic Lodge if that's what I'm seeking? Also, when I visited my local Masonic Lodge and when the members came to inspect me before I was initiated I got this wonderful feeling accompanied by a tingling sensation in my head. I know it's a strange question but was I feeling the "Light" that's so often mentioned in Masonry? Thank you for any replies

That is a typical physical sensation when Light from on high enters the human body.
Your experience suggests that the brethren that visited you are brethren worthy of the spiritual heritage of Freemasonry.
>Can a Masonic Lodge provide Enlightenment?
You yourself must do the preparatory work for enlightenment.
You may have detected that the work of the Entered Apprentice is to establish right relationship with humanity and the rest of Existence. No doubt there is more to accomplish.

This question will bring you many different answers.
My standard reply is, 'if you are thirsty you would always look for a clean and watertight vessel to take the water to your lips'.
Freemasonry in my humble opinion is the vessel not in itself the enlightenment.
The seeker of Light - which in most definitions is the Seeker of Truth. Or The seeker of Education.
Most apprentices will take 3 to 4 years learning each day all the aspects of their chosen craft before they can call themselves a complete Craftesman a Master of their Craft.
The apprentice Stone Mason will start with a rough stone, in time he will make it into a perfect square sided stone that can be used to form a strong structure. it will take many years before he can instruct others in how to start on the same journey.
It is the journey that is important, not the destination.
