I became a Freemason in 2000. I then joined the Mark. Some people say that Mark is the correct order: 1°, 2°, Mark then 3°, but actually always taken 1°, 2°, 3° then Mark. The additional Degree of RAM messes things up - but RAM is a superb degree.
So, after being Advanced to Mark (and RAM), I joined Royal Arch (or as it is called Chapter). That was in 2004.
I was Exalted at Great Queen St, then the Festive Board at The Crosse Keys at 31 Endell St, London WC2H 9EB.
The Chapter then folded! I became an unattached Companion. This situation suited me: I could wear my medal, if I wanted to. But I never did exercise my right to visit other Chapters (once).
SO IN 2022 I finally had the chance to witness an Exaltation (of course, I could not see my OWN Exaltation).
It was tremendously exciting. The ritual was not very well done, but I felt the atmosphere.
After a 17 year pause, I have decided to continue my Chapter career.

As I say, I had been in a fallow period, between 2004 and 2022.
I went to many Craft meetings and some Mark/RAM meetings, but no Chapter meetings between my own Exaltation and that recent Exaltation at Surbiton, where I saw a colleague where he was the Candidate.
The room at Surbiton is specially furnitured for meetings. The room is not large...it looks prefect for a Chapter meeting.
I was the witness, for the first time, of an Exaltation. I really felt how special it was, a really feeling that Royal Arch completes the Craft.
It is a very special ceremony, and I want to write about it more later.
