Does your lodge have events outside of regular meetings and fund raisers? If so, what do they do for fun outside of the lodge? Bowling, motorcycling, golf, pubs, concerts, museums, etc.

We have dinners, lunches, breakfasts, picnics; all the food, yet not all the time. Historic tours of ghost towns, going to schools to award bikes, scholarships, charity work, snowmobiling, concerts, museums, art shows, coffee, local brewery, &c. A few bikers, yet the club is a few towns away. Parades. That's all I can think of for now.

A lot of us are into working out and martial arts. We tend to gather for practical magical rituals too.

We've got a quiz night coming up next month - the proceeds are going to be topped up to £500 (unless they exceed that in which case we will donate the lot) and will be donated to a charity being supported by the daughter of one of our late PMs

i used to run Quizz nights Jeff, just for charity.
You have tables of people say 6 , 8 to a table. Each would pay say £5 each and get Chicken and chips as a meal.
They compete as a Table. They get a prize can be abything , I used to do a Bottle of Sparkling wine for each on the winners table and a box of Smarties [Candy] for the bottom table.
Lists of questions and they write the answers on a sheet, you collect the sheet after each round of questions.
Then I used to make up a running order list [ Q1 Q2 etc and put the running totals on the large sheet so all could see. at the front of the room.
After each round of questions , the answer sheets are collected and totals are put on the display. The team that gets the most right wins.

We have arranged a 'music night', where those with musical talents come and play. I performed on the keyboard, if it's proper to call what I do 'performing'. ;,) It went over very well, and was enjoyed by all those who came and danced.

I'd like to arrange a music night at my lodge for fun some evening. I am a professional musician/entertainer; I sing and play guitar, I have both a Fender Strat and a Gibson SG Standard, both of which are beautiful instruments to play.

I did actually do an "Elvis" night at a fund raiser a couple of years ago, which was indeed a lot of fun, but it wasn't just for my fellow brethren, and it wasn't even in our own LDH Lodge; in fact, it was at a GLoI Lodge around the corner. On that

I love that the SG was always a "go to" punk rock guitar. It also has an interesting history as Les Paul originally designed it to be his replacement for the original. Gibson made some radical design and construction changes and Les Paul demanded his name be removed from the guitar. not having a name Gibson slapped it with the generic Solid Guitar, thus SG. I can't play on them though, the necks are too small. ;D

I had a Bose mixer and a bunch of different stuff. Whatever works was fine by me-Les Pauls and Gibsons are cool. My guitarist worked at the Gibson factory and built his own, very cool guitar. Our claim to fame? We continually show up on the 'Weirdest Band-Name' lists. Google 'Juggernaut Crustacean'. People just don't understand the power of the Crustacean!

I love Bluegrass, particularly Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, and Jimmy Martin. There's a couple of really good venues for Bluegrass: The Townsend Bluegrass festival in Tennessee and Renfro Valley in Kentucky. Of course here are plenty of others but these two stand out in my mind.

Thanks Bill for the explanation. That's the first I had heard of such a contest. I assume it works similar to group Trivial Pursuit based on your description. Some bars and pubs have this one night a week here in the states, others offer Bingo.
Do you play Bingo in the UK?
