would it be possible to open a Scottish Constitution Lodge in Florida? In short, probably not. The Grand Lodge of Scotland would almost certainly decline to issue a charter. Your only hope would be to have a Grand Lodge that does not recognize the Grand Lodge of Florida to issue you the Charter. However, consider that move carefully, as most of your visitation rights, (including Lodges back home), will be lost.

Erm... Yeah, it's great that you're Welsh.
But what does that have to do with regular Masonry?
If this brother decides to create his own lodge, how does that help freemasonry?

Relax brother - just to explain the way we got where we did
it was just a bit of a tangent leading from the consideration that our brother was thinking of forming a new lodge becaue it appears that he didn't like the rules of his GL. That lead us into the discussion of how some GLs have a prohibition on brethren being involved in the alcohol business which some of us are incidentally as a result of being masons as our masonic halls are licensed as social clubs. I know many brethren under UGLE who are employed full time in the licensed trade.
Hence bod's comment about being glad that I live in Wales (by the way, bod is also a Welshman!)

If five hold a Lodge, why is it that we view such endeavours with such suspicion and miscontent? I would personally much prefer to see growth and freedom in that area of Freemasonry that appears to have been overly stifled over the past few centuries in many regions.

Woah dixie, chill pill time brother! Just a little light hearted banter.
JMD, dixie's reply indicates what some perceive the issue to be, vis a vis regularity and all that.
Thee are plenty of choices of GL's depends on how you like your freemasonry, and how much visiting you want to do.
It is a shame that Blackadder hasn't replied, he was online last night.

I don't see why one Brother's or small group's actions have to be good for all Freemasons. Why can't it just be good for the Brothers involved and everyone else can leave them alone.

Easy Bro Blackadder
Not necessary to have a dig at Bro thedixiemason - we can disagree with what is said without attacking each other surely
Incidentally, where in Orlando do you hail from? - I will be there from 25th

As tempting as that might be, my wife, son, daughter and daughter's fiance will all be there
I have been told in no uncertain terms that any attempt to visit a lodge or make masonic contact other than purely accidentally will result in very real penalties that are in no way symbolic!

Blackadder, as part of my research for Wayne I visited the GL website, can I ask, have you taken their 'Master Mason' exams? Also the main GL site does contradict some of what you mention above, is it possible its the lodge that is in need of some invigorating?

GOdF, I hadn't thought of that as I didn't know they were active in the USA. Now there's an idea?

I passed my MM examination three months ago,and I sat in the East as WM for an EA degree three weeks ago. Bod,What contradictions are you referring to? You have hit the nail on the head ,we are in dire need of invigoration. Wayne I "hail" from South Orlando in Southchase ,about 2 miles North of Gatorland on 441 (Orange Blossom Trail),but the way you phrase you question it seems like no are familiar with Orlando. Here is a link to a site that nails the problems within Freemasonry in Florida. www.freemasoninformation.com/bryce/Fromtheedge.htmDixie you really need to read this article ,in fact everyone needs to read it. burningtaper.blogspot.com/2006/12/florida-grand-master-silences-bro-tim.html
