Hi Cheyham, i think certain people would feel intimidated to vote, and if they are up for honours after supporting the RA over many years than the nature of the beast is to say nothing, regards Mike.

Steve i must agree with your comments about London. I'm about to join a London lodge this coming Monday at Great Queen Street, and it's completly different to the provinces, the O.V attends every meeting, his choice, he has had a chat with me regarding the mechanics of the metropolitian Province which i found refreshing. The minutes are read but i don't mind that as my mother lodge used to send them out untill something was missed! so we have gone back to reading them, but we still finish on time. We are about to install a new PGM in my province in May and i'm sure he has new ideas on how to move the province forward, as i know that he is keen on promoting the sports section amongst other things. ;D

Middle Pillar your not in Lodge Jonah, are you ;D
When i was WM, my Ipm took the role of Secretary, so the ipm that was coming out of that job stayed as the ipm, which to this day i didn't think was correct? The WM of my lodge is coming out of the chair in November and will aslo hold the Charity stewards role as well as Ipm.

Hmmm... I've looked at the first couple of pages of the thread. The bias towards Mark first is quite overwhelming . The thing is, most of the experienced Brethren I have spoken to face to face have told me that they prefer Chapter to Mark by far . Even Keith Jackson says in "Beyond the Craft" : for most [it] is still regarded as the ultimate of the Craft system. I don't know how true that is, of course. At this stage, my issue is not so much which one to do first, but which one to do full stop. The more I read, the more I find HRA and its Christian offshoots more appealing than Mark Masonry/RAM. Just a question of personal taste, I suppose. GC Choose your own route. I joined Chapter 9 years ago, and i'm going into Mark next year, after 14 years in Freemasonry, regards Mike.

When we took our obligation in the first degree what did the JD say to us when standing in the North East Corner of the lodge what was our answer? and what was our second answer? and what was our 3rd Answer? I rhink that says it all. The four main Masonic charities are there to support all, as those bodys that are put in place to help the needy, poor, suffering, and others, cannot always help as they struggle with fund raising and attracting people to help.
I held a Charity shoot two weeks ago and the funds are going to The Brittle Bone Society, and the RMTFG&B. I have had a letter back from the Brittle bone Society saying that they are very grateful for the time, effort, and money raised, and that they get NO funding from any government Dept or Body. The RMTFG&B Supports and helps the 32 childrens Hospices nationwide, they started a project called Lifelites in December 1998 to help with I.T projects and for people with computer skills give time to these hospices. These Hospices rely on outside help as they also receive minimal or no funding from on High.
What people need to do is read the mission statements and information from all four charities then make comments.
Every Lodge that i'm a member of contributes to Local charities and Masonic charities alike. Regarding having a end of festival Banquet well i think thats down to the individual if they want to attend, but at the end of the day i see it as recognition for your Lodge in helping raise funds.
