Oh beware, chant the seers of yester year. History repeats itself. Hopefully, the name Boudica will cause a rethink about plunging head long into war. The garrison may burn, but the legions will regroup. First they will cut the offending party to ribbons. Then they will crusade through the countryside wiping out even the innocent who hold those same beliefs.

>sigh< Still no MadDervish! Anyway, I will share a Sufi legend that has particular significance for me:
This story with accompanying comment is excerpted from the book “Saturday’s Child: Encounters with the Dark Gods” by Janet O. Dallet, a Jungian psychiatrist. A powerful book and one I highly recommend for people trying to come to terms with the Dark Face of the Divine.
"... In any case it is rarely easy to be sure whether a thing is more good than evil except in hindsight. What appears to be good on the surface often comes from bad motives and has bad effects. Last week, for instance, I sat in my office and heard a mother beg her distressed son to let her help him. In the next breath, she informed the young man, who was in his early twenties, what she required in return for the financial aid she thrust upon him. Getting rid of his black girlfriend was first on the list. To everyone but the mother it was obvious that the “help” she saw as entirely benevolent was a desperate and shabby attempt to control her son’s life.
By the same token, good is often hidden behind what appears to be evil. Jung tells a story from the Koran, in which Moses and his servant Joshua ben Nun meet Khidr, an immortal who symbolizes the Self. Moses asks to follow Khidr. The tale continues with the immortal’s response:
“You will not bear with me, because you will be unable to bear with patience the things you do not comprehend.”
Moses replied confidently, “If Allah wills, I shall be possessed with patience. I shall not in any wise disobey you.”
Khidr shook his head. “Then if you are bent on following me, you must never at any time question any action I shall make until I shall choose to speak to you concerning it”
Then they set forth, and embarked on to a fishing boat. Moments after boarding the ship, Moses followed Khidr down into the bowels of the vessel, where he proceeded to bore a hole through the bottom of the boat, and water immediately began to flow in. Moses exclaimed, “What are you doing? Would you drown us all?” Khidr looked at him. “Did I not say you would not bear with me?” he asked. Moses looked abashed. “I forgot my promise. Please forgive me.” and was silent.
They journeyed onwards and fell in with a young man one evening on the way to the caravanserai. Khidr killed him and left his body in an alley as though he had been attacked by robbers. Moses, horrified at this demanded to know: “ Why did you kill that innocent man, who has done no harm. Surely this is a wicked crime you have committed!”
Khidr did not look round but said “Did I not tell you that you would not bear with me?”
Moses was abashed. “ If I should question you agaain, please abandon me; I should deserve it!”
They travelled on to the next city, where they requested hospitality from the people ther, but were denied. As they made their way along, they came to a wall that was falling down and collapsed in places. Khidr started placing the bricks back into the wall, and soon the wall was almost as good as new. Then they resumed their journey. Moses could not remain silent and he spoke “You could have demanded money for the repair of that wall from its owners.”
Khidr stopped. “And now, the time has come when we must part, since despite your words you are unable to abide in patience what you do not understand.
However, before I go, I will explain those actions of mine which you witnessed. Know, then, that the ship in which we sailed was about to fall prey to a king who followed in our rear, who is seizing all seaworthy vessels by force. The poor fishermen who own the boat will now keep their vessel thanks to the hole I drilled in its hull.
As for the youth I killed, he is an evil and dissolute youth who is plaguing his parents, who are true believers both, with his wickedness and disbelief. Now the family resources will pass to the other son, who shall grow up a righteous and filial young man.
As for the wall, it belongs to two orphan boys in the city, whose father was an honest man. He buried a money chest beneath that wall, and the Lord has decreed that they should find it when they are grown to manhood. I repaired that wall lest another should inadvertently discover the treasure before that time.
What I did was not by mere caprice. This is the greater meaning of those actions which you did not understand at the time."
And with that, Khidr disappeared, leaving Moses and his servant standing alone.

Well, looks like we didn't beat out previous record of 412 people on-line on April 8, 2008..it's just too bad SIX MORE people didn't sign in, it would have been PERFECT.I wonder what was going on here that drew so many people on that particular day? Was somebody "live-streaming" a Gnostic Mass or what?
I have been part of numerous Gnostic Masses, both off and on the altar, and both public and private. I even took it upon myself to write an addition to the Mass itself. I wonder if the ol' Lodge tossed it, or did they keep it in? Tossed it, probably; it certainly didn't fit in with their big ol' "Secret of the Ninth Degree" (not that there WERE any "Ninth Degrees" hanging around anywhere!)

Well, look at that: I logged in at 11:11 on April 10, 2011. Maybe I should come back tomorrow at the same time to make it even MORE perfect!

Seems like blood still draws the big crowd. The 412 are not all people by the way. Type certain words and the 'visitors' will hone in on you. Thought you would have known that.

Actually no, I couldn't possibly have known that THAT was what was drawing all the 'visitors" ; after all, I have NO IDEA what topics were being discussed that day! I don't know how to make the search feature seek out posts from a parlticular day! is there a "keyword" you could supply me with, perhaps?
PS: what's a "stouch"?

Stouch = a slugging match. Verbal abuse. My Order is better than your Order. I know more than you do, you're an idiot... that sort of thing.
We can do without those even if it means less visitors.

I don't honestly know.
Orders that came out of maximus' bottom, perhaps; or which a Martian gave him on a dried nose-goblin stuck to the the end of a Q-tip ; we shall, perhaps, never know.
Anyone who conducts themselves using rude and grandiose language; attempts to terrorize people with opinions different from his own; and finds the ignorance of others an opportunity to ladle abuse, rather than advice, however, points himself out as an Adept of the Black Lodge.
A doofus, that is.

I see. Well, lotsa THOSE around!
It is an odd but perfectly observable fact that the phenomenon of the"Lodge" appears to have seen better days; I really DON'T know of any one that hasn't been torn by dissent and disputes. This is a pattern I have noticed that seems to have started in or aound the late 1700s; no doubt this was the first manifestations of the Aquarian Age, which officially commenced in 1888 or thereabouts. Aquarius is a sign that prides itself on individuality; thus it would be VERY difficult for Aquarian "individuals' to 'bow the neck" to the cooperative effort that is a "Lodge". Crowley mentions this tendency in the Intro to Liber Al ,"The New Aeon":
"The present period involves the recognition of the individual as the unit of society"
In fact, I recommend that people check out that intro; it can be seen how Crowley makes many prophetic statements about the nature of the upcoming Aeon of Horus (this was 1904, remember) that ring eerily true even today, if one translates and updates certain archaic British terms, colloquialisms and words into "modern" terms ("movies" for "cinema", "wireless" for "the media" "guessing competitions" for "game and reality shows".)funny, no OTO type of the male persuasion ( however tenuous his grasp might be on that concept) I have ever known (not as many as I might have done, had I signed up earlier in life), has even noticed this; you'd think they would be able to quote their idol chapter and verse, seeing as how Liber Al is the centre of the "Crowleyan" OTO current!
It is strictly forbidden to discuss the Book itself (this to avoid and fend off in advance doctrinaire squabbling and any taint of evangelism) the Book is not for everyone, after all ("Let my servants be few and secret"), plus it may only be proffered to one's friends at a feast... But there is no such injunction laid against discussing the Introduction to the Book, which writing contains enough that is astonishingly prophetic in its own right...
I have always found Crowley's use of the term "Centre of Pestilence" a curious one, most especially in light of the fact that Sekhm-t (The Egyptian lioness-headed Lady of Power; the root of the Sanskrit word "Shakti") was a Plague Goddess, in addition to Her other attributes...

Gotta give him that. So,ruff ashlar, I infer from this statement (presumably you were there that day, so are more or less qualified to give particulars) that Maximus was at the bottom of it all? Can I get you to "spill", huh, can I? The numbers for that day are so Thelemic! What was the topic that had everybody all hot under the Jewel!

Beats me. I only came back on to note with pleasure than stouch is perhaps related to the Scots word stooshie, meaning a kerfuffle

After looking at the news concerning the recent riots on Vancouver, Canada, it again recalled to mind what Crowley had to say in his remarks about "The New Aeon" in the intro to Liber Al vel Legis ('The Book of the Law") I reiterate: it can be seen how Crowley makes many prophetic statements about the nature of the upcoming Aeon of Horus (this was 1904, remember) that ring eerily true even today, if one translates and updates certain archaic British terms, colloquialisms and words into "modern" terms ("movies" for "cinema", "wireless" for "the media" "guessing competitions" for "game and reality shows".):
" This "God" Horus...rules the present period of 2,000 years, beginning in 1904 Everywhere his government is taking root. Observe for yourselves the decay of the sense of sin, the growth of innocence and irresposibility, the strange modifications of the reproductive instinct with a tendency to become bisexual or epicene., the childlike confidence in progress combined with nightmare fear of catastrophe, against which we are yet half unwilling to take precautions... (Remember, all this was written BEFORE the "nuclear age" had taken hold)
"...Consider the popularity of the cinema, the wireless, the football pools and guessing competitions, all devices for soothing fractious infants; no seed of purpose in them..."
Consider sport, the babyish enthusiasms and rages which it excites, whole nations disturbed by disputes between boys...
The resemblance of current modes of human behaviour as exhibited in the media to Crowley's description of the upcoming Aeon phenomena is truly extraordinary, especially the part about the "bisexual and epicene" part.
Considering all the hormone-disrupting substances in the environment these days that can not be avoided by any means whatever, it's a wonder anyone can reproduce at all. (It is also hardly surprising that the offspring of the generation who sanctioned the use of these substances would bethe ones to bear the stigmata of the decision to make these substances one of the vicissitudes of existence from the microbic level on up; surely this could be seen, at least in part, as the "establishment of the Aeon of Truth" which, we are assured by Crowley himself, follows directly upon the heels of Aeon of the Child)
But I digress.
Funny how reproduction is nowadays seen as the 'downside" of sexual activity, and the common perception of motherhood as mindless slavery to a squalling, demanding ball of biological unpleasantness, instead of as it once was, the "Shower of Life upon Earth". How times change!
It can truly be said that estrogen is the only thing standing between humanity and annihilation due to lack of interest in caring for the end result of the reproductive process!

The "93" current eh. GREEK GEMATRIA. AGAPE and THELEMA. Embarrassing to see EGO's expand even farther than normal on a MASONIC SITE, but, often, individuals really cannot "see" themselves clearly. CROWLEY was an interesting kinda guy, travelling lots, assuming various personas (usualy with a title, like LORD BUMPTY BUMP, etc) authoring many books and articles about his view of esoteric subjects, usually as THE SUPREME AUTHORITY ( receiving that authority from the so-called "secret chiefs" ). If one reads the various accounts of his life, it seems as though just about everyone close to him became insane, alcoholics, committed suicide, etc., not exactly a recommendation for a good "GURU". Also, the O.T.O. followers of THELEMA or the "A.A." that I've met are very personality-obcessed with CROWLEY, whose EGO was just massively gigantic. But, to each his (or her) own. Still, I have to admit that the THOTH TAROT DECK is probably the most beautiful and HERMETIC-COLOR correct of all the decks that I've seen. All hail BAHHHFOMET !!!

Oh jeeeeeez, another page of EGO expansion and bashing. I appreciate the remarks of JAYMAN and the moderator of this PUBLIC SITE, and hope that some day you're able to get through all the defense mechanisms of some of the people posting here.. I won't hold my breath tho. Yes, sharing factual, proveable knowledge without EGO aggrandisement or pushing some agenda or path would appeal the most to me. Remember that CROWLEY died in a HASTINGS boarding house with a cocaine and heroin addiction, saying something like "I'm perplexed!" Sheeeesh. I wonder why. All hail BAHHHHFOMET!!

Curious, it sounds exactly the opposite of TRADITIONAL KABBALAH and GNOSTIC or HERMETIC DOCTRINE, as defined by the most esoteric and authoritative of their respective MASTERS. The end of the great AGE, KALI YUGA, when everything is inverted.

It really is unfortunate that people who have devoted the majority of their lives looking for the HIDDEN WISDOM and have a great command of the language, an amazing memory of events, esotericists, written material, etc... should fall victim TO THEMSELVES. The TRUE adept of esoteric knowledge/wisdom will excell at CONCEALING HIM/HERSELF by his/her speech, only indicating MASTERY of oneself by the way in which he/she interacts with others. RESPECT, KINDNESS, HUMILITY and FAIRNESS go a long ways in how a persons writings or words are received.
